Rust-Oleum ® Undercoating
DESCRIPTION A black rubberized, paintable protective coating.
USES For preventing rust on bare or primed metal, including the underbody and wheel
wells of cars, trucks, trailers and other recreational vehicles.
APPEARANCE Dries to a flat-black, rubberized finish.
SURFACE PREPARATION (See directions on can for more details)
Remove all rust, dirt, oil and grease from the surfaces to be coated so that the
surface is clean and dry. Mask off the area to avoid overspray on the auto finish.
The use of a Rust-Oleum ® Primer will provide additional adhesion and hiding and
is especially recommended for bare metal.
MIXING Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake the
can often during use.
APPLICATION Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when air
temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C) and humidity is below 85%
to ensure proper drying. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover the
surrounding area to protect from spray mist. Hold the can 12-16" from the surface
and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep
the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying.
Remove any overspray from the auto finish immediately. For best results, apply a
second coat 1-2 minutes after applying the first coat. Allow to dry for a minimum of
one hour.
