DAGENHAM Rugby Club’s under-
18 players faced international
opposition in a match against a South
African team.
The squad were coming to the end
of a tour with South African sport
organisation Navsfed. They wanted
to play a London team before flying
back home. And after another team
let them down, the Dagenham boys
came to their aid.
But this good deed couldn’t help
the home side, who lost 19-0 to the
tourists.
Dagenham’s under-18 coach,
Russell Yellop, said: “It’s great for
Dagenham and great for the club that
a touring side came here to play.
“It’s a friendly, but it would still
have been nice to win. It’s not often
the team get to play against a touring
side like this, though, so it’s good
experience for them.”
