Neck Related Headache is also referred to as cervicogenic headache. Unlike normal headaches
occurring due to multiple other causes like migraine, the neck pain triggered headaches always
affect one side of the head. The discomfort that you feel owing to the neck related headache is
quite unnerving and mostly makes you feel immensely heavy on one side of the head for a
longer duration.
Treatment of neck headaches is decided based on the cause and it is vital to get the pain
treated soon as otherwise it can lead to severe issues with time. Lack of sleep, an incorrect
eyeglass, stress, loud noise exposure, and tight head wear can also lead to severe headaches.
However, these are sensitivity caused headaches and once identified you can rule out the
occurrence by avoiding the trigger. On the other hand, neck related headache is an issue that
comes accompanied with mild to moderate neck pain. This makes the pain all the more
unbearable.
Symptoms of neck related headache
The best way to identify a neck related headache is to observe the pattern of the headache. In
most cases the differentiating factor is the frequency of the headache and how it spreads. In
case of every other headache the pulsating or throbbing pain will diversify across the head and
forehead region, sometimes spreading across the eyebrow line. However, in case of the neck
related headache, you are bound to get a one-sided pain on your head that spreads all the way
down to your neck.
What are causes of neck related headaches?
Excessive strain owing to poor working postures is likely to irritate the upper joints of the neck
and cause a headache. In older age groups osteoarthritis of the upper neck joints can also relate
to neck related headaches. Many times a neck damage owing to an accident can also be the
cause of neck related headaches, which arises due to an intensive neck tissue or cartilage
rupture.

headache. Generally, they will first observe you and the pain pattern and if they notice that it is
arising due to posture problem, they suggest correctional measures and insist on exercising.
However, if the pain is more deep-rooted then they will insist on a therapy to cut away the
pain. This therapy will be given in sessions as suggested by the therapist. In some cases
medicines can also be administered.

why it is important for you to notice the changes and observe the pain in order to seek a
permanent cure.
