Recommendation 1-6 are key recommendations proposed by the
students. Recommendation 1 is deemed sending a signal that peaceful
means will be adopted as a main approach to end the violence.
Recommendation 2 and 3 are process-oriented suggestions concerning
setting up of a dialogue forum that links with the foundation for the
opening of a space for broad-based public participation.
Recommendation 4 is a mechanism to create justice and trust in the
areas. Recommendation 5 is communication to create understanding
with the mainstream society, ensuring that the society realizes the
benefits of peaceful means and forms an attitude that recognizes the
merits of peaceful co-existence within a multi-cultural society.
Recommendation 6 proposes an adaptation of an administrative
structure to conform to the local identity and culture under the
constitutional framework and to encourage public participation.
Recommendation 7-9 are secondary ones that favor providing support
to concerned parties so that they can pursue the matters more vigorously
on ongoing basis to win the heart and mind of Malayu Patani people
and make them feel that the state and mainstream society accept,
respect and recognize values of their identity genuinely and
wholeheartedly. Consequently, they can live their lives with dignity and
without making them feel alienated, and they can take pride in being
a Thai citizen with Malay race who lives in the Thai society which is
diverse and equitable.
