while being able to create activities in recruiting election applicants and
resolving conflicts among local election campaigners for each side by
using Wat Nong Payom as a facility for organizing the activities.
The Phrakhru Wiboon Sitthitham defines the meaning of conflict
by connecting the villagers’ well-being or life quality. Conflict means the
lack of good life quality both in terms of income, education, family life,
etc. In order to reduce the level of discord in the community, including
political conflicts, the villagers must be provided with good life quality.
The Master, therefore, initiated projects to improve the villagers’ quality
of life. Among these projects was the Asset Saving Oath Project, which
was an important mechanism in helping to raise the level of life quality
among the villagers while reducing local and political conflict.
The ethic for the villagers’ improved quality of life connected to the
reduction of conflict used by the master was oath-taking, which was the
fundamental ideology of the Asset Savings Oath Group with additional
ethics: 1. The members’ ethics for self improvement, i.e. diligence,
honesty, unity and regulations and 2. A group of ethics that must be
exercised, namely, endurance, thriftiness, and patience. The results of the
implementation of the aforementioned ethics were: 1. Love and sharing,
2.Sacrifice for the greater good, 3. Empathy, 4. Responsibility for group
and community, 5.Compassion and 6.Trust.
The instrument Phrakhru Wiboon Sitthitham employed in
handling conflict consisted of 1. Ground rules; 2. The concept of
identifying the community needs; 3. The process of people’s
participation; 4. Apology, and forgiveness; 5. Dialogue 6. Moderating
and 7. Peaceful communication.
