The youth initiatives will then be assessed by a jury of judges and
the best initiatives will be showcased through media, brochures and
videos and an award ceremony.
This program is expected to enhance equitable allocation of
resources as it promises to develop a cadre of youth with values,
awareness and practical tools to promote equity and fairness in their
communities. As this generation matures it is hoped that they will
continue to champion these values in their communities, their nations
and internationally.
c) Research to Enhance Governance Assessment Tools
Most IDG-Net members are involved in implementing some
form of governance assessments in their countries. Often these
assessments are undertaken using international indicators such as those
developed by the World Bank. Many IDG-Net members find these
indicators are not appropriate for their unique cultures and settings.
However, the process of developing unique indicators is challenging.
IDG-Net members will collaborate in a process to design more
contextualized indicators, to incorporate them in their governance
assessments, review the validity of the indicators, and adapt the most
suitable indicators into their on-going governance assessment process.
IDG-Net will bring together interested researchers for an initial
meeting to share and discuss indicators and to develop new indicators.
Researchers would meet again after they have tested their new indicators
and assessed their validity and relevance.
The results of this process would be documented and
disseminated so that all institutions involved in governance assessments
can benefit from the lessons learned.
This research is expected to contribute to enhancing equitable
allocation of resources as it will aim to improve the way in which
participating institutions measure equitable allocation of resources. It is
expected to result in the identification of indicators for equity and
