His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah,
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam, has been working
tirelessly for the well-being of his
subjects. Through the various plans
for progress that places emphasis
on education, healthcare, housing
and diversifi cation of local economy,
His Majesty developed the blueprint
for success for the country and
its people. A further contribution
towards upgrading the lives of
Bruneians arose in the form of
housing schemes. Housing assistance
are given to the needy and new
Muslim converts through the
National Housing Scheme that also
provides homes for landless citizens.
MUHIBAH
His Majesty’s compassion has brought comfort to many of his people. From
providing his people access to free medical health, education and housing,
and freeing his people of personal income tax, His Majesty exemplifi es the
true dedication of a charitable ruler.
Furthering His Majesty’s aim to develop the country and assist the
underprivileged, His Majesty initiated a charity foundation in his name,
the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation (Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah) in 1992, in an effort to facilitate the implementations of his and the
Royal Family’s charitable works. Funds from the foundation are channelled
to support socially benefi cial projects in fi ve different components, namely
education, welfare, religion, development and to fi nance higher education.
This includes providing fi nancial assistance to students furthering higher
religious education while the welfare arm provides assistance to eliminate
poverty in the country.
