It was acontest between the settlers and Mother Nature(floods, droughts, hail, wind, rain, tornadoes). Oiland gas also played a part of Bixby’s story, alongwith ongoing issues with bridges and crossing theArkansas River.with everything centrally located within onesquare mile. Residents traveled to Tulsa for specialoccasions but as Tulsa grew closer, the easyaccess to automobiles and spread of Tulsashopping areas sent consumer dollars to the north.Bixby could either grow to meet these demandsor plateau…so it adapted, and grew. And grew.And grew.
