FINAL PROJECT PLACED ON SITE
FINAL PROJECT
The brief was to design a centre for DoCoMoMo
International (International Committee for
Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites
and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement).
The trigger behind the design was a quote by an architect
whose work was supposed to be the inspiration behind
the spaces in the institution. The quote chosen was ‘The
Nature of Space reflects what it wants to be’ by Louis
Kahn. The design intention throughout the process was
to create spaces that are directional and have the power
to guide the people that inhabit them. The centre is
meant to promote awareness about modern buildings
by conducting workshops, lectures and exhibitions
focusing on them, for people of all ages. The resultant
design was divided into three distinct bays for working,
learning and interacting, with all three functions coming
together at the Cafe’ placed in the center on top.
