The Anniversary Anthem

For forty years this club has been the cream of the Waikato.
Even strangers through the door who come from far and wide.
For we are the team, all clad in green, with us they will abide.
In ‘68 they gathered here and came up with a scheme,
With Joe the coach and mastermind and hopes to build a team.
From small beginnings to present day and recognise a dream.
Sandy, Jim and Richard, Charlie, Morrie and all,
With leather ball and dubbin, they were a happy band.
With shirts from a far off place of a team called Sunderland.
We gather round and tell tall tales at moments such as these
As we remember who came before we will never see their like again.
For the times that we remember, brief as a shower of rain.
