2006

Waikato A Division - Reserves 2006

DANIEL SCAWBOARD (Scoreboard)

Playing anywhere this man is young,

gifted and white. Dan has the talent to

go a long way in football. Unfortunately

he has a touch of Abbo’ about him and

he went walk-about two-thirds of the

way into the season. He has yet to

commit to a full year in senior football

(or to a phone call to his coach).

JULIAN POPE (Jules I)

Jules has taken a back seat from his

football this season due to his teaching

commitments. Always a diligent trainer

and a committed left-back, his cry of “I

know!” has been sadly missed for the

better part of the season.

ANDY BELL (Roo)

This utility player has made more comebacks

than Mohammed Ali. Slowly

slipping into retirement Roo has been a

great asset when the team has

struggled to field 11 players. His play

has been outstanding whenever called

upon. He is planning yet another comeback

in the Auckland reserves League

for 2007 (the Second Coming?).

JULIAN LAW (Jules II)

A newcomer to the team this season,

Julian has quickly adapted to the roundball

game. Big, strong and mobile, Julian

has found his niche playing left-half and

has put in many superb performances.

He has provided the strikers (and

Thomo) with some sublime crosses, and

raised the Ressies stakes as the bestlooking

team in the Club. Most

Improved Player.

JOHNNY BELL (JB, Cruiser)

Sadly, this left-half has passed his useby

date, although still can show

flourishes of his past grandeur,

although not as often as he would like.

The shock of playing in the third team

fired him up for the remaining Ressies

games. He is still waiting for Richie and

Gordy (Senior Coaches) to revive his

career!

ANDREW CATLEY (Catfish)

It has been a welcome return to the

Reserves for our centre-midfielder, who

has been missing in action for the past

few years as he played with the first

team. He has accumulated some extra

poundage but has lost none of his flair

for shooting wide of the mark. He is

currently front-runner for the most

spectacular goal this season (a 30-meter

back-pass against Cambridge. Squad

Member of the Year.

TIM STEERS (Tim the Brit)

Another newcomer to the Ressies and

to the Club. Tim-the-Brit is a live-wire

mid-fielder who has tremendous

stamina. So much so that he covers

every position on the park at the same

time! When not footballing Tim does

world tours of Hamilton with his band.

Yet another musician in the Club.

PATRICK GRIFFIN

(Paddy, Mrs Griffin)

This mid-fielder is a man of few words

off the park and even fewer on it. Paddy

has come into his own this season,

starting in more games than in years

past. He is always capable of finding

himself in great scoring positions quite

regularly. He has shone in centre-field

and is currently taking goal-shooting

lessons from Catley.

BRYDON RETTER (“B”)

Currently the highest goal-corer (1+1+1)

Brydon has been a regular with the

Reserves for a number of seasons and is

now considered a veteran (despite

being only 15). Along with paddy, Ziggy,

Andrew and Ryan (plus the rest) he

makes up a long list of talent that marty

Kerr-Bell has uncovered from St Paul’s

Collegiate. Brydon has been used and

abused as a utility player as well as a

bench-impact player this year. Top Goal

Scorer Award.
