. . . . .

The funeral on Tuesday of Charlie Gorman was

extremely well attended by those who knew him throughout

his 78 years. The ‘reception’ was held at the soccer club

where a great number met and reminisced. “Old Charlie”

was well involved in all aspect of the club since it began in

1968.

Honouring an Absence

Moments before kick-off in the Eden game a

minute’s silence was observed as both teams and the

officials lined up in front of the clubhouse in honour of

Ngaruawahia United Life Member Charlie Gorman, who had

passed away a few days previously.

The upstairs window, where Charlie had always

watched the matches, had its curtains drawn during the

brief moving ceremony.

The team honoured him with a 4-2 win.
