1983 9th Grade B, Division 3

1983

Chris Jamieson, Stewart Prendergast, Regan MacDonald, Reuben Barnes, Paul Matthews, (#6?), Carl Vickers,

Damien McLeod (with Mascot), Steven West, Adam Dysart, Mark Kearney.

COACH:

Murray Jamieson

RICKY TAWHAI

Wanted to give football a go after a season or two

at rugby league. Developed in skills and positional

sense as the season progressed. A committed team

member.

VAUGHAN DEGROEN

A very efficient tackler and defender both in

defense and in midfield. A dependable player.

REGAN MACDONALD

Natural “lefty” with developing skills as a winger.

Netted five times in his half-season before

holidaying overseas, where he attended a five-day

coaching clinic in Calgary (Canada).

ADAM DYSART

Striker who started the season in great form but had

a bad spell near the end. Good ball skills and positional

sense. Frequent scorer.

MARK KEARNEY

Enthusiastic player who shrunk from nobody. Set up

counter-attacks through the halves.

CHRIS JAMIESON

Expended a lot of energy in supporting his team. Had

started to develop positional sense as the season

came to a close. A trier.

CARL VICKERS

A good striking boot, but often ran out of puff.

Deadly when heading for goal, ball at foot!

CLINT RUSHBRIDGE

Throw-in and dribbling expert. A "thinker". Made a

valuable contribution to the team.

DAVID McBETH

The fireball of the team. Was into everything and

was the most effective player in the team. He was

responsible for most counterattacks after robbing the

opposition of the ball. Great mid-fielder.

REUBEN BARNES

A keen footballer. Defends well. Will get off his

death-bed to play a game!!!

PAUL MATTHEWS

A goalkeeper of natural ability, discovered late in the

season. Will develop into a keeper of high quality as he

progresses through the Grades.
