It was a pleasure to coach a happy team that had good parental support right

through the year at every game. With 14 players turning up for every match it meant that

six had to have half a game each week. Every player willingly stood down when asked to.

Probably, if I had kept the best players for every game, our win ratio would have been better, but

every squad member has to start somewhere.

It is hard to single out any particular player when everyone has improved.

However, the Trophy winners certainly deserved their awards.

From our first game when we arrived in Hamilton to find our opponents

had one to Te Awamutu to play us, to the last game which was drawn, they were a

cheerful, happy bunch of kids.

Mr & Mrs Stephens donated a small trophy to be presented to the Player of the Day

each Saturday (recipient chosen by the parents). This seemed to give the players added

incentive to play well.
