New Year, New Me - literally! I came
into 2020 as a legal adult (finally
18 lol) who’s in her first year of
university and is living on her own
in China. I like to stay on top of
things, so I made a vision board with
resolutions for every area of my
life for this year that I like to call
my ‘personal year’.
Self-Care
But what is physical health without inner health? Self-care is a
definite must this year (and forever), which is why I make sure to
journal my thoughts and feelings every week. This helps me analyse
and evaluate my emotional health and the effect whatever I’m going
through at the time has on me. Because self-care also means taking
responsibility of your reaction to events in life.

Still on self-care, I’ve recently cut out meat from my diet, not only
for the health benefits that has to offer but also for my mental
wellbeing. A lot of people don’t know this, but meat affects hormones
hence affects your mood, sleeping & bathroom patterns, etc. Crazy
right? So, replacing meat with alternative healthy omega 3 fatty
acids such as olive oil & avocados increases ‘good cholesterol’ levels
in the body, which is a key factor in healthy hormones
Now this is tough on some days as I Live with people who meat on a
daily, but discipline comes in handy and we keep moving forward <3
Health
One of my resolutions for the year is
to be fit. Leading a healthy lifestyle
has several undoubtable benefits,
which I would obviously like to enjoy.
So, I’ve decided to exercise AT LEAST
4 times a week, although so far it has
been almost everyday (yay! :D) I have
a timetable which I follow. I make the
effort to do a short & light exercise
even when I don’t feel like working out,
because a little workout is better than
no workout at all, right! SO, this goal
is going well, so far!
RELATIONSHIPS
Cutting out meat is believed to be good
for spirituality, and getting closer
to God is on my to-do list for 2020.
I started reading The Bible more and
praying every day. It’s hard to do so
when I’m not in the mood but I don’t force
it because I believe anything spiritual
related needs to come from the heart for
it to be effective.
In addition to my relationship with
God, I’m also working on improving my
relationship with everyone in my life.
I’m horrible at conflict resolution, my
resort when experiencing a conflict with
someone is often to silently cut them
off, meaning no healthy (if any at all)
communication takes place. Which is toxic
because misunderstanding is inevitable,
so does that mean I’m going to silently
distance myself for everyone? That’s not
realistic. Which is why this year I would
like to be a better communicator and
practice better conflict resolution skills.
It has NOT been easy, but it’s been worth
it. I’m hoping to look back at the year and
see that I’ve accomplished most if not
all my goals and resolutions for the year
and that I’m in a much better place than
I am now.
