I couldn’t believe it! All my life I thought I was an ordinary teenage girl. But
then I discovered I had superpowers. Let me explain…
Keke’s my name. I am sixteen years old. I am a student at Mogoditshane
Senior School. I have 1 friend and I’m probably the biggest weirdo at school.
My birthday is on the 24th of July, a day I used to call the worst day of my life.
Wonder why? Well the answer is easy; it’s a day that made me miss my mother
more than any other. My mother died when I was three years old; so, I can
hardly remember her. And what’s the point of living without her, a half of me?
I woke up early that unwanted morning, 0600 am, 24/07/19. My big brother
Kevin lives away from home, in Phakalane. He always video calls me, about
every two weeks. So, he was the first to wish me a happy sweet 16. Soon after
that, my father tried to cheer me up by singing to me and cooking me a nice hot
breakfast. For a split second, I felt okay.
Well the second passed; I have to get back to my normal routine. I put on my
uniform and went off to wait for the school bus. On the way, I started to
feel a little lightheaded. “Maybe I had a cold or something,” I thought to
myself. Still I kept on walking. I arrived just on time. When I got in, there
was a soft buzzing sound. I figured it was because there were a few
people who were chatting but then a strange thing happened. I started
hearing loud voices in my head. As I passed each person, the voices
got stronger and stronger, along with it came excruciating pain. I
threw myself down on my usual seat at the back of the bus. Was
I going crazy? Well I sure thought so because this isn’t normal.
What the hell was going on in my head?
