BODY MASS
INDEX {BMI}
Body mass index is a value
derived from the mass and
height of a person. The BMI
is defined as the body mass
divided by the square of the
body height, and is
universally expressed in
units of kg/m², resulting
from mass in kilograms
and height in meters.
Knowing your BMI can help
you - and your GP -
determine any health risks
you may face if it's outside
of the healthy range.
BMI =
WEIGHT
{HEIGHT} 2
Make sure that when
calculating BMI weight
should be in kilograms and
height should be in meters.
There are many benefits of
BMI.
Our BMI is a measurement
that is a ratio of your weight
and height. It's a good way
to gauge whether your
weight is in healthy
proportion to your height. In
fact,
Suppose a person weighs 80
kilograms and is having
height of 200 centimeters
then body mass index of
that person will be:-
Weight=80kg
Height= 200cm=2meters
BMI = 80
2 2
BMI = 20
The BMI is a convenient rule
of thumb used to broadly
categorize a person
as underweight, normal
weight, overweight,
or obese based on tissue
mass (muscle, fat, and
bone) and height.
Commonly accepted BMI
ranges are underweight
(under 18.5 kg/m 2 ),
normal weight (18.5 to 25),
overweight (25 to 30), and
obese (over 30).
BMI value is considered to
be a benchmark for deciding
if a person is overweight. It
is very important to know
status of one‘s weight
because a lot of other
medical conditions have a
relation with obesity. A
weighing machine can tell
us our weight — but we need
BMI value to put the

NUTRITION - A
KEY ASPECT
OF LIFE
Ask ourselves, what is
personality? Primarily
the way we think and
behave and this would
include our intelligence
and emotional
quotients. A good body
and a good mind often
go together.
Apart from the
environmental inputs
which have lasting
effects on a person‘s
personality, good
nutrition, balanced in
both macro and micro
nutrients is of vital
importance. When we
talk about the cognitive
Abilities of a person, we
refer to the attention,
memory, thinking,
learning and perception
of that person. All of
these in the years to
come, go on to shape the
skills and the general
abilities of a person and
have a direct relationship
with a person‘s
achievements, including
access to better literacy,
lifestyle, self esteem and
self control.
Nutrients provide
nourishment.
Proteins, carbohydrates,
fat, vitamins, minerals,
fiber, and water are all
nutrients. If people do
not have the right
balance of nutrients in
their diet, their risk of
developing certain health
conditions increases.
You are what you eat. It‘s
usually that one person
who eats more protein
than compared to the
person who eats less, has
a good muscular built

Nutrition in human

IGESION refers to
intake of food. Food in
human beings enters
body through mouth. In
our mouth food is mixed
with saliva to break it
into simpler form. Food
is mixed thoroughly

Digestion refers to break

In stomach the food

consists of three main
components these are
PEPSIN, HCL, and
MUCUS.
The
ABSORPTION of food
takes place within small
intestine and large

The rest of part is

During digestion food is
broken down into
simpler substances. For
example rice, potatoes,
and bread contain
carbohydrates. These
carbohydrates are broken
down to form glucose.
This glucose combines
with oxygen in cell to
provide energy to the
body. That implies
person who eats more
food has more energy
than the person who eats
less food.

THE GREAT IDEAL – APJ
ABDUL KALAM
A GREAT IDEAL
- KALAM
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen
Abdul Kalam was an
Indian aerospace
scientist and politician
who served as the 11th
President of India from
2002 to 2007. He was
born and raised in
Rameswaram, Tamil
Nadu and studied
physics and aerospace
engineering.
While delivering a
lecture at the Indian
Institute
of
Management Shillong,
Kalam collapsed and
died from an apparent
cardiac arrest on 27 July
2015, aged 83.
Thousands, including
national-level
dignitaries, attended the
funeral ceremony held
in his hometown of
Rameshwaram, where he
was buried with full
state honours.
Kalam was born in a
middle class Tamil
family in the island
town of Rameshwaram
in the erstwhile Madras
state. His father was
Jainulabdeen and mother
was Ashiamma
Kalam earned a degree
in from the Madras
Institute of Technology
and in 1958 joined the
Defense Research and
Development
Organization (DRDO).
He soon moved to
the Indian Space
Research Organization,
where he was project
director of the SLV-III,
India‘s
first
indigenously designed
and
produced
satellite launch vehicle.
Rejoining DRDO in
1982, Kalam planned
the program that
produced a number of
successful missiles,
which helped earned him
the nickname ―Missile
Man.‖
Kalam wrote several
books, including an
Autobiography, Wings
of Fire (1999). Among
his numerous awards
were two of the country‘s
highest honours, the
Padma Vibhushan
(1990) and the Bharat
Ratna (1997).
Kalam was the
youngest of four
brothers and one sister
in his
family. [16][17][18] His
ancestors had been
wealthy traders and
landowners, with
numerous properties and
large tracts of land.
Their. [19] By his early
childhood, Kalama‘s
family had become poor;
at an early age, he sold
newspapers to
supplement his family's
income.
In his school years,
Kalam had average
grades but was described
as a bright and
hardworking student
who had a strong desire
to learn. He spent hours
on his studies, especially
mathematics. [21] After
completing his education
at the Schwartz Higher
Secondary School,
Ramanathapuram,
Kalam went on to
attend Saint Joseph's
College, Tiruchirappalli,
then affiliated with
the University of
Madras, from where he
graduated in physics in
1954.He moved
to Madras in 1955 to
study aerospace
engineering in Madras
institute of technology.
While Kalam was
working on a senior
class project, the Dean
was dissatisfied with his
lack of progress and
threatened to revoke his
scholarship unless the
project was finished
within the next three
days. Kalam met the
deadline, impressing the
Dean, who later said to
him, "I was putting you
under stress and asking
you to meet a difficult
deadline". [23] He
narrowly missed
achieving his dream of
becoming a fighter pilot,
as he placed ninth in
qualifiers, and only
eight positions were
available in the IAF.
There are many values
that can be adapted from
Kalam‘s life these are:-
1) BE PREPARED:-
Life does not always
follow the path we have
set for it. Sometimes, it
takes its own course and
Makes us follow it
instead. We never know
what‘s next. So, always
be ready for the best and
the worst. Success and
Failure are the two faces
of the same coin. Work
hard to achieve your goal
and never let yourself
down.
2) BE COURAGEOUS
AND
THINK
DIFFERENTLY:-
One of the major life
lessons from A. P. J.
Abdul is that you must
be courageous enough to
think differently. He
said ―My message,
especially to young
people is to have courage
to think differently,
courage to invent, to
travel the unexplored
path, courage to discover
the impossible and to
conquer the problems
and succeed. In a
country like ours where
laths of students are
preparing and
competing for that one
seat of their dream
in engineering and med
ical college, conviction
and purpose with courage
can only make
that dream come true? It
is your mind and
thinking that makes all
the difference here and
not all those hours
you‘ve spent solving a
paper! Make the best use
of your mind, think
differently & identify
the techniques that set
you apart from the rest.
3) CONNECT WITH
PEOPLE:-
Even after retirement Dr.
A P J Abdul Kalam, the
people‘s president set
himself in a demanding
schedule of speeches,
notably in educational
institutions, and had an
uncanny ability to
connect with a variety of
audiences. His
connection with all the
people in work and with
the whole country are
some values of A P J
Abdul Kalam to be
emulated. He teaches
people to stay connected
with everyone and
spread positive thoughts.
He was the one who
motivated everybody in
the country with his
inspiring speeches. He
taught the youth to take
responsibility and work
in the direction of
development with
loyalty and integrity.
3. BE HUMBLE:-
This should top the list
because everything else
fails in the absence of
this. Dr. Kalam always
emphasized that you
should never lose out on
your humbleness even if
you are the head of an
entire nation. Modesty
has, and will remain, a
powerful trait because
where egoism fails,
humbleness conquers.
IMPORTANCEOF
SOCIETY
PERSONAL
DEVELOPMENT:-
IN
Society plays an
important role in the
expression of the
preferences but not in the
preferences themselves.
For example, all societies
have extroverted and
introverted people in
about the same
percentages but if you
look at how they express
this preference you‘ll
find some clear
differences.
The current study aims
to highlight the basic
ingredients of
socialization to impact
the personality
development as it
socializes person with the
diverse traits to make
their capable to adjust
with the society and lead
a successful life. The
concept of socialization
encircles the wide range
process through which a
person learns the culture
and becomes an
integrating part of
society. Moreover,
Socialization is a
continuing process of
learning thus it cannot
be achieved abruptly and
influenced by the diverse
determinants as it relies
on the social experience
and enlightenment
which differs from
society to society.
Henceforth, a healthy
society can provide
effective socialization as
compare to a deviant
society. It suggests how
to socialize a person and
draw attention to the
factors which impact a
person‘s overall
development.
Apart of all this a
question one arises that
what is role of society in
once life? Answer to this
are mentioned below
The safety/ security
of the concerned
people. Every time,
if an individual is
in danger, then the
members stands for
that individual.
Being a member of
the same society,
they often consider
one another as
brother/sister.
Material/ moral
help. A society
provides moral and
material help to a
person/ family in
the time of distress.
Persuading a
common goal.
Sometimes a
society can be a
powerful force to
full their needs . eg.
If an area has poor
road facility, then
the member of the
society of that area
can unite together
and
ask
government to full
fill their needs. It is
almost impossible
by single person.
Unity. In today‘s
world it is very
necessary to live in
a group.
Society is one of that
things that helps our
personality to develop.
Suppose there is a
society which
contributes 200 people,
if you find that the
society is well
developed then you
will also find that the
people living there are
well developed in their
personality. This is all
because of role of
society in personal
development.
Some of the things
that you need to
acquire for your
personality
development are listed
below.
1. Become a Better
Listener
2. Expanding Your
Interest
3. Becoming a Better
Conversationalist
4. Meeting New People
5. Treating People With
Respect
All this have only one
solution that is
development of society

LITERACY-

The first question arises
that what Is Financial
Literacy? Financial
literacy is the ability to
understand and
effectively apply various
financial skills,
including personal
financial management,
budgeting, and
investing. Financial
literacy
helps
individuals become selfsufficient
so that they
can achieve financial
stability.
Financial literacy is an
important element of
economic and financial
stability, both for the
individual and the
economy. Wide-ranging
developments in the
financial marketplace
have contributed to
growing concerns about
the level of financial
literacy of citizens of
many countries.
Moreover, the 2008
financial crisis
demonstrated that illinformed
financial
decisions—often caused
by a lack of financial
literacy—can have
tremendous negative
consequences
Financial literacy is
particularly important
for the young, as they
face financial decisions
that can have important
consequences throughout
their life. The younger
generations‘ increased
responsibility requires
them to have the
knowledge to make
sound financial
decisions early on. One
such decision is the
investment in education,
i.e., whether or not to go
to college and how to
finance that education.
When facing major
financial decisions such
as these, financial
literacy is uppermost
understanding, but also
to promote effective
decision making
2. The objective of
financial literacy is to
improve financial wellbeing,
not to affect a
single behavior
3. Financial literacy has
effects not just for
individuals but for
society as well
4. Financial literacy,
like reading, writing,
and knowledge of
science, enables young
people to fully participate
in economic life
There are 4 innovative
aspects of this definition
that can be highlighted:
1. Financial literacy
does not refer only to
knowledge and
The Football Legend-
Diego Armando
Maradona Franco.
Diego Maradona is an
Argentinean
soccer
legend who is widely
regarded as one of the
best players of all time.
Maradona led club
teams to championships
in Argentina, Italy and
Spain, and famously
starred for the
Argentinean team that
won the 1986 World
Cup.
Diego Armando
Maradona was born on
October 30, 1960, in
Villa Fiorito, a province
of Buenos Aires,
Argentina. The fifth of
eight children raised by
Diego Sr. and Doña
Tota, Maradona grew up
in a poor but close-knit
household. He received
his first soccer ball as a
gift at age 3 and
quickly became devoted
to the game.
At 10, Maradona joined
Los Cebollitas, a youth
team of Argentines‘
Juniors, one of the
biggest clubs in
Argentina. Showing his
prodigious ability at an
early age, Maradona led
Los Cebollitas to an
incredible 136-game
unbeaten streak. He
made his professional
debut for the senior team
shortly before his 16th
birthday.
The pinnacle of his career
came as a member of the
Argentinean national
team that won the 1986
World Cup. His
performance there
included two memorable
goals in a quarter-final
victory over England.
The first was scored
illegally with his left
hand, which Maradona
later claimed was the
work of "the hand of
God" and the second
required no supernatural
help other than an
otherworldly ability to
dribble past an
onslaught of defenders
to find the back of the
net. Altogether,
Maradona played in
four World Cups, and
scored an impressive 34
goals in 91
international
appearances for
Argentina. Maradona
spent the twilight of his
playing career in his
home country, his
physical skills
diminished by
mounting injuries and
years of hard living. He
announced his
retirement on the eve of
his birthday in 1997.
The problems that
plagued Maradona later
in his playing career
continued after his
retirement. He was
hospitalized for heart
problems in 2000 and
2004, the second time
requiring the use of a
respirator to breathe
properly, and the
following year he
underwent gastricbypass
surgery.
In 2008, Maradona was
hired to coach the
Argentinean national
team. Although the
Argentines boasted a
talented squad
headlined by Lionel
Messi, perhaps the best
player in the world, they
were bounced from the
2010 World Cup with a
4-0 thrashing by
Germany in the quarterfinals,
and Maradona's
contract was not
renewed.
Despite the public
disappointments,
Maradona remains
beloved in Argentina as
a native son who rose
from
humble
beginnings to reach the
apex of stardom on an
international stage.
