Cautions
� Do not knock or hit the player, especially do not shake TFT screen
in order to avoid TFT being damaged or displayed abnormally.
� Do not put the player in high temperature place (over 40°C),
especially not in the cars with window closed in summer.
� Do not use the player in extreme cold, dusty or damp field. Do
not expose it to direct sunshine.
� Back up the data frequently in case of accident data loss.
� Avoid using the player in strong magnetic field.
� Do not use the player in the electronics-prohibited area, such as
in the plane.
� Keep the device away from water or other liquids. In the event
that water or other liquids enter the device, power off the product
immediately, and clean the device.
� Do not use chemical solutions to clean the device in order to
avoid corrosion. Clean it with a dry cloth.
� Never use the player during driving a car or using other vehicles
to avoid traffic accidents.
� Reduce the volume level or stop using the product when a
ringing ear or auditory hallucination occurs.
� Never disconnect the player from PC during downloading,
uploading and formatting to avoid failures and losses of data.
� We are not responsible for damages or lost data caused by malfunction,
misusing, repairing the device or battery replacement.
� Do not attempt to disassemble, repair or modify the product. This
will invalidate guarantee.
� The design of the player or actual display may be different from
what is shown in this manual. It should be subject to the actual
display or design.

Charging the Battery
The device has a rechargeable built-in lithium polymer battery. It is
charged via USB connection. You are required to charge it when
you use it for the first time.
To charge the battery, connect the larger end of the USB cable to
the USB interface of PC, and connect the other smaller end of the
USB cable to the USB interface of this player. The device is connected
to PC and being charged. If you want to know the charge
progress, disconnect the device safely by clicking the “ ” icon.
You see an animating battery icon indicating charge progress.
When the icon becomes green, the battery is fully charged.
Notice: The device is not available during charging.
Reset Function
If the player can’t be used normally for some
reasons (should not happen in normal operation),
please use a small cylindrical plastic stick to reset
the player.
In this case the player should not be connected to
the PC or an adapter.

Playing Music
Enter the Music Mode
Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu. Use
the � or � button to select “Music” menu, and press the
button to confirm selection. Now you are in the MUSIC mode, refer
music playing to the basic operations.
Lyrics
This player supports the lyrics function with MP3 playback.
Important
Lyrics file format has to be *.LRC.
File name has to be the same as the songs name.
Lyrics file has to be placed in the folder of the song.
Folder Navigation
To navigate through folders:
1. In the MUSIC mode, shortly press the RETURN button to enter
folder navigation mode.
2. To get access to an inserted SD/MMC card and the integrated
memory as well you again have to press RETURN shortly.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select a folder or track, and press
the button to confirm selection.
Playing Videos
1. Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu.
2. Use the � or � button to select “Video” menu, and press the
button to enter the video player mode.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to search a video file that you want to
play, and press the button to play. For detail information
about playing, see the “Basic Operation” section.
Note: During playing, you can shortly press the RETURN button
to enter folder navigation mode.

Note: This player can only play AVI videos. For other formats,
you need to use the converting tool included on the driver
CD to convert them. For detail information about the converter,
see AVI Converter Quick User Guide on the CD.
Viewing Photos
To view photos,
1. Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu.
2. Select “Photo” and press the button to confirm.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select a folder or image, and press
to confirm.
4. In the full screen mode, you can press the � or � button to display
the previous or the next photo, press to start auto slide
show (by setting the time interval between 1 and 5 in
“Settings/Auto slide show/Photo”) or press the RETURN button to
enter folder navigation mode.
Note: Some images may not be displayed. Try to use an
image viewer (ACDSee for example) to convert them. See
“Convert image file” for details.
Reading E-book
Reading
1. Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu.
2. Select “E-book” and press the button to confirm.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select a .txt file, and press the
button to open the selected file.
4. Press the � or � button to page up/down, press the V+ or V–
button to scroll line by line, or press the button to scroll down
automatically (by setting the time interval between 1 and 5 in
“Settings/Auto Slide show/Text”).
5. During reading, you can use the bookmark to mark the page for
resuming reading later. For information about bookmark, see
next section.

Using Bookmarks
1. Go to the page that you want to mark.
2. Press and hold the REC button to show up a “Save BookMark”
window for saving bookmark.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select a line of the menu and press
the button to confirm. The bookmark is saved. It starts from
the first line of current page.
4. To read the page that you marked, shortly press the REC button
to show up the “Load BookMark” window. Select the bookmark
and press the button to confirm. You will be guided to that
page.
Note: This player only supports TXT files in “ANSI” format, and
does not support other formats. If the file size exceeds 400KB,
it may take much time to deal with, so please try to control
the file to be about 400KB or smaller than that.
Browsing all Files
To browse all files stored in the player,
1. Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu.
2. Select “Explorer”, and press the button to enter the browser
mode.
3. You see a folder named “Internal Memory”. If a SD/MMC card is
inserted, you also see a folder named “Memory Card”. Select
the folder you want and press the button.
4. Press V+ or V– button to select a folder or a file that you want to
view, and press the button to play or display it.
Voice Recording
Record
1. Press and hold the RETURN button to display the main menu.
2. Select “Record”, and press the button to enter the recorder
mode.
3. Shortly press the REC button to start recording. During recording,
you can press the button to pause/resume recording.
4. Shortly press the RETURN button to stop and save recording.

Play Recordings
To play the recording, switch to the MUSIC mode, enter folder navigate
mode, search and play the recording file.
Deleting File
To delete a file:
1. In the folder navigation mode, select the file that you want to
delete.
2. Press and hold the REC button until a dialogue box shows up.
3. Use the � or � button to select “Yes” and press the button
to confirm.
FM Radio
On the main menu, select “FM Radio” and press the RETURN button
to turn on the FM radio.
Search Station
1. Shortly press the key to show the submenus. You see the
menu items displayed on left side. You can press the V+ or V–
button to switch highlighted menu.
2. Switch to the “auto” or “manual”, and press the button to
activate auto-search or manual-search mode. In the Manual
mode, press the � or � button to tune in stations.
Save Station
To save the found station:
1. Shortly press the button to activate the submenus.
2. Press the V+ or V– button to switch to the “Save” and press the
button to confirm.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select an empty location for the
station, and press the button to continue.
4. Press the � or � button to select “Yes” or “No”, and press the
button to confirm.
5. Press the RETURN button to hide the channel list.

Listen to Station
To listen to saved station,
1. Shortly press the button to activate submenus.
2. Press the V+ or V– button to switch to the “preset” menu and
press the button to enter the PRESET mode.
3. In the PRESET mode, press the � or � button to select a saved
station for listening.
Delete Station
1. Shortly press the button to activate submenus.
2. Press the V+ or V– button to switch to the “delete” menu and
press the button to continue.
3. Press the V+ or V– button to select the station that you want to
delete, and press the button to continue.
4. Press the � or � button to select “Yes” or “No”, and press the
button to confirm.
5. Press the RETURN button to hide the channel list.
Record FM Program
When you are listening to a station, shortly press the REC button to
record your favourite programs. For detail information about
recording, see “Record” section.
Exit FM Radio Mode
To exit FM radio mode, shortly press the RETURN button.
Playing Game
This player provides a popular and funny game - Tetris World. To
activate the game, on the main menu, select “Game” and press
the button to enter the gaming mode. Basic operation is as
follows:

SD/MMC Slot
After connecting the player to the computer, you will find two
portable devices. One is the built-in memory device and the other
one is the device associated to the SD/MMC card. This player
supports SD/MMC card capacities from 128MB to 2GB.
The player supports direct playing of songs on SD or MMC cards.
Insert the card into the slot. The contacts have to be arranged in
the direction of the screen.
To access files on the card you have to enter the folder navigation
mode (see “Browsing all files”). Pressing RETURN button once again
brings you to “ROOT” where you can switch between internal Flash
memory (display: Flash:\) and the card (display: Card:\). The
selection is performed with .
To take out the card, push the SD/MMC card slightly into the case.
After it is ejected partially you can take it out.
Note: Please don’t insert in or take out when the player is
powered on. Otherwise, it will cause file loss.

To customize the player settings:
1. On the main menu, select the “Settings” item and press the
button to enter the system settings mode.
2. Press the V+ or V– button to select setting item and press the
button to confirm or press the RETURN button to cancel.

Firmware Upgrade (Windows Vista coming soon)
You can upgrade the player to get the newest version of software
by the following steps:
Installation of the Upgrade Tool
1. Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM of a computer.
2. Run “custom updater setup 2.61.2.exe” to install the upgrade
tool.
3. Follow on-screen prompts to complete installation.
Upgrading the Firmware
1. Select and run the upgrading tool.
2. With you can specify the firmware upgrading file
provided by the vendor (available for instance at
www.teac.de).
3. Turn the player on.
4. On the main menu, select the “Settings” item and press the
button to enter the system settings mode.
5. Press the V+ or V– button to select the “System” option and
press the button to confirm.
6. Press the V+ or V– button to select the “Upgrade” option and
press the button to confirm.
7. Press “Yes” and connect to PC using a USB cable.
8. Click to start upgrading. The process may take
up to 6 minutes. Relating information appears in the “Update
Info” area until successfully updated. When update is finished, in
this area “successful” will be displayed.
9. Click to finish upgrading.
10. Safely remove the player from the PC.
11. Switch on the Player. It will automatically initialize settings.

Convert and Play Video Files (Windows Vista coming soon)
Install the AVI Converter
1. Insert the provided installation disk into the CD-ROM drive, select
and run “AVIConverter package Setup.exe” program, enter
installation interface, then click [Next] button to display as
follows:
2. Click [I Agree].
3. After selecting the installation routine, click [Install] button until
the completion of installation.
4. After the installation, click [Finish] button to finish the software
installation.

Conversion
This player can convert the formats RM, VOB, DAT, RMVB into AVI
video format via the provided video convert software.
1. Run the “AVIConverter” program.
2. Click and select the input file. At this point, file
name will not be changed except for the extension (.AVI).
Information on both the Input and the Output file will be
displayed in the window.
3. To save the Output File with a different name, type in desired
name at “Target File Name”. Click
, you can select
other files. After finishing selecting, click to close this
window.

4. Click to convert entire file.
5. After finishing the conversion (Progress = 100%, Status = Ok), click
to exit.
6. The successfully converted AVI video file can be played.

Converting Steps
Run the ACDSee program, select the image that you want to convert,
and click “Tool” � ”Convert”.
Select “JPG JPEG JFIF Format” and then click “Options”.

On Windows Media Player 10.0 version (Windows XP only)
1. Connect player to PC
2. Choose the desired WMA music with DRM.
3. Click Right button of mouse and choose “Add to Sync list”
4. In the open window, choose “Sync” option.
5. In “Sync” window, choose the desired WMA music with DRM as
step 2) and choose “Removable Disk”
6. Click “start Sync” to transfer the WMA music with DRM to player.

Who May Enforce the Warranty
This warranty may be enforced only by the original retail purchaser.
What We Will Pay For
We will pay all labor and material expenses for items covered by the warranty. Payment of shipping and insurance charge
is discussed in the next section of this warranty.
Warranty Period
TEAC Europe GmbH, hereinafter called TEAC, warrants this product against any defect in material and workmanship for
two (2) years from the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser. According to the following terms this TEAC
product will be repaired without charge of labor and materials by the authorized TEAC service stations, by the authorized
TEAC dealers and/or their authorized service stations. TEAC, the authorized TEAC service stations, the authorized
TEAC dealers and/or their authorized service stations may decide whether the defective product will be repaired or
replaced as a whole or partially. The TEAC dependancies, the authorized TEAC service stations, the authorized TEAC
dealers and/or their authorized service stations will also honor this warranty in the other EC and EFTA member states
based on the terms in this warranty conditions.
How You Can Get Warranty Service
1. If your unit needs service during the warranty period, please contact the local authorized distributor for this product.
If you are unable to locate such a distributor, please contact your TEAC facility at the address indicated below.
2. After identifying the nearest authorized service station for this product the product or any parts believed to be defective
must be shipped freight and insurance prepaid to such service station, together with a copy of this warranty
certificate and a copy of your sales receipt, showing the date of purchase. Please ensure to fill out the warranty
certificate correctly (do not forget the serial number of the product). TEAC reserves the right to refuse the guarantee
service if the documents are missing or incomplete in the understanding of this terms.
If the necessary repairs are covered by the warranty, and if you have sent the product or parts of it to the nearest
authorized service station, the return freight and insurance charges will be prepaid.
Please do not return your unit to the TEAC factory without our prior authorization (see also RMA form)!
Limitations of Liability and Exclusion of Implied Warranties
Unless considered unenforceable or unlawful under the applicable national law:
1. TEAC’s liability for any defective product is limited to repair or replacement of the product, at TEAC's option and the
option of authorized service stations, authorized dealers and their authorized service stations. No one is authorized
to assume any greater liability on TEACs behalf. TEAC shall not be liable for any damage to any other properties
independant of their virtual or real nature especially there is no liability for any damage to any kind of software and/
or any kind of databases caused by TEAC products. Furthermore TEAC is not liable for damages arising out of loss
of use, loss of revenue or profits, or any other damages, whether incidential, consequential, or otherwise.
2. All implied warranties or conditions, including but not limited to warranties or conditions of merchantability and fitness
for a particular purpose, hereby are excluded.
These warranty terms do not affect any statutory rights of consumers which were granted by the respective national laws.
What is Covered and What is Not Covered.
Except as specified below, this warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship of this product. The following
are not covered by the warranty:
1. Damage to or deterioration of the external cabinet.
2. Any unit that has been altered or on which the serial number has been defaced, modified, or removed.
3. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:
(a) accident, misuse, abuse or neglect;
(b) failure to follow instructions supplied with the product;
(c) any shipment of the product. Any damage arising of transportation is the liability of the freight company. Any
damage arising of transportation and any implicit and explicit risks are the liability of the freight company. This is
expressively not a liability of TEAC;
(d) repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by TEAC to repair this product;
(e) causes other than product defects, including lack of technical skill, competence or experience of the user. Especially
damages which may arise of incidential use respectively by improper ventilation,
(f) damages caused by improper or incorrect installation of software,
(g) periodic check-ups,
(h) maintenance respectively repair of parts due to normal wear and tear,
(i) adoptions or adjustments to the product in order to conform to different national technical or safety standards of
any country other than the one for which the product was originally designed and manufactured.
