Moisture Barriers
A moisture barrier prevents moisture from passing via capillary transport processes into the floor construction or living
space and causing detrimental effects as a result. It protects us from any damage to health that could be caused,
for example, from mould formation.

Description
The Gefitas®PE moisture barriers have been developed
by specialists and prove their established status every
year with a laid surface area of more than 3 million
square metres. There are no limitations to the choice of
floor covering consumers wish to make. The membrane
sheets consist of a PE film and a closed-cell polyethylene
foam, which protects the waterproofing membrane from
damage and levels out any unevenness of the floor at
the same time.
Some of the noteworthy features of the Gefitas®PE
moisture barriers include their enormous robustness,
high ductility, extreme temperature flexibility, very
good vapour denseness and their exceptional
chemical resistance. Gefitas®PE moisture barriers
do not contain any softening agents or other additives,
they are bitumen-resistant and are absolutely safe to use
in living spaces and public buildings such as
kindergardens, schools, hospitals, etc.
All Gefitas®system components are coordinated with
one another in such a way that instalment is always
safe and simple. The joint strip R300, the fixing tape,
sealant, adhesive, and sealing tape all have a
supportive role to play in ensuring that the laying
process is executed correctly. Our laying
recommendation provides precise details of how
the Gefitas®waterproofing system can be applied
and processed in the best possible way for any
situation.

Certifications & Standards
The use of Gefitas®moisture barriers is regulated pursuant to DIN 18533 and general German building authority
test certificates („AbP“). In addition, the Gefitas®system is externally monitored by the „MPA Braunschweig“. The
Gefitas®moisture barriers and vapour barriers are standardised in accordance with DIN EN 13967, categorised
in accordance with DIN EN 13501 in the building material class E and bear the CE mark accordingly.

The original and robust moisture barrier with a 300 µm* PE
film. It is a cutting-edge quality product, and developed by
Gefinex. The 300 µm PE film and the 3 mm PE foam are
joined together with a firmly bonded lamination.
Product properties
Extremely resistant to mechanical damage and suitable for
instalment on rough, uneven concrete substrates. An adhesive
tape integrated along the length of the membrane allows for
the sheets to be easily linked up to one another. Water impact
class W1.1-e (ground moisture) and W1.2-e (AbP test
certificate), Space utilization class Rn1 and Rn2.
The cost-effective alternative to the „Gefitas®Original” with a
200 µm PE film. It is a highly modern waterproofing membrane
that forms part of the Gefinex product range. The 200 µm PE
film and the 3 mm PE foam are joined together with a firmly
bonded lamination.
Product properties
Extremely resistant to mechanical damage and suitable for
instalment on rough, uneven concrete substrates. An adhesive
tape integrated along the length of the membrane allows for
the sheets to be easily joined up to one another.

Gefitas®RS is a moisture barrier that protects against rising
damp, as well as safeguarding buildings from radon contamination
from the ground (certified as radon-proof by IAF
Radioökologie GmbH). The sheet consists of a 200 µm PE film,
an integrated aluminium layer, laminated onto a 3 mm PE
foam layer.
Radon exposure in buildings
When left unchecked, the radioactive inert gas often penetrates
its way into buildings and causes harmful health effects.
Modern materials such as the Gefitas® RS provide effective
protection from in-ground radon contamination.
Product properties
The product is characterised by a high resistance to perforation,
ductility and tensile strength. An adhesive tape integrated
along the length of the membrane allows for the sheets to be
easily joined up to one another.

Vapour Barriers
A vapour barrier in the roof prevents any water vapour contained in the room air cavity from getting into the insulating layer and roof
truss. In addition, it optimises the windproofing of the roof construction.

The Gefitas®PE vapour barrier 1/250 consists of a
high-quality, closed-cell 1 mm PE foam and a 250 µm PE
laminate layer. This means that a fleece is no longer required
as an additional layer for rough substrates. The integrated
sealing edge means that the sheets can be easily bonded to
one another. Together with the compatible Gefitas®
accessories, air-tightness is ensured for the vapour-proof
and air-tight joints as per the requirements.
The Gefitas®PE vapour barrier 1/400 is made from a
high-quality, closed-cell 1 mm PE foam and a 400 µm PE
laminate layer. This means that a fleece is no longer required
as an additional layer for rough substrates. The integrated
sealing edge means that the sheets can be easily bonded to
one another. Together with the compatible Gefitas®
accessories, air-tightness is ensured for the vapour-proof
and air-tight joints as per the requirements.
Areas of use
For use on flat roofs for preventing the formation of condensation in wood, steel and concrete constructions.
Product properties
The Gefitas®PE vapour barriers 1/250 and 1/400 have a high resistance to perforation, as well as a high level of ductility and tensile
strength. They are also penetration-proof making them safe to walk on. They do not contain any softening agents or other harmful
additives.

R300

The system joint strip R300 has been specially developed to ensure
that the Gefitas® moisture barrier is conjoined to the outer
wall barrier or rising structural elements („white tank“) in the
proper and correct manner. With the R300, the inner and outer
corners can be formed. It also serves as a way of securing the
moisture barrier.

System joint strip
R300 Plus

The system joint strip R300 Plus has been specially developed
to ensure that the Gefitas®moisture barrier is conjoined to the
outer wall barrier or rising structural elements („white tank“) in
the proper and correct manner. The R300 Plus also features a
10 mm perimeter insulation strip in order to form the perimeter
edge around the floor screed.

Fixing tape

The fixing tape is a highly elastic and malleable butyl adhesive
tape for the formation of corners, as well as to ensure
additional waterproofing from any possible permeations, e.g.
