MacKillop
MacKillop College began as a single prefabricated
building among the Werribee Surrounds. With just four
classrooms and 102 students, it was the ‘experiment’ that
strove to be a contemporary educational establishment.
Fifty years later, the 1970 ‘experiment’ has become the
multi-complex facility we have today with gymnasium,
chapel, amphitheatre, digital technologies hub, music
and fibre center, art rooms and food technology
kitchens to meet the unique needs of the community and
our students.
Students are provided with guidance to become
advocates for transformation in the world, and we
see the truth of this in the student-run extra-curricular
groups. Complementing all areas of teaching, the
International Programs and local volunteer projects also
serve to grow the whole person further still.
While we look back on 50 years of successful education,
we also look forward to the changes and prospects
to come – to the opportunity to nourish and develop
future generations of students to become proactive and
responsible global citizens of our world. As we adapt to
a rapidly changing world during unprecedented times,
the vision from the past still stands strong for the future:
‘celebrating all life, challenging all people, dreaming the
new day.’
