The Preparation
The gifts of bread and wine are prepared with prayer. See Appendix for Rite of
Preparation. The priest may also say this prayer.
Prayer of Dependence
O Lord and King, condemn me not
as I draw near
to minister before your holy table
upon which your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,
is to be mystically set forth as a sacrifice.
Do not utterly reject your servant,
unprofitable though am I,
for I approach these divine and heavenly mysteries,
seeing that of my own self
I can do nothing;
but trusting that I can do all things
through Him Who strengthens me,
therefore, I pray,
God be merciful to me a sinner,
and in your abundant mercy
strengthen me for this service
by your Holy Spirit
and count me worthy
to make known, without condemnation,
your word of truth to your people,

The Assembly
While the clergy vest, the rest of the Assembly devotes itself to silent, penitential prayer.
At the sound of the bell, the Priest along with Deacon and Thurifer enter the nave. The
Priest greets the Assembly.
