events around the cape April 26-October 14 Carroll Gallery Exhibit: The Iconic Cape May Lighthouse: From the Pages of The First Resort In the Carroll Gallery in the Carriage House at the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington Street, Curator Ben Miller, author of the best-selling Cape May history book The First Resort, provides visitors with a unique look at the iconic Cape May Lighthouse. Illuminating darkness over the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay for 160 years, Cape May’s lighthouse is the third beacon to guide mariners through the tumultuous waters at the confluence of the ocean and bay. Memories and historic images abound, from the keepers who dedicated their lives to maintaining the light, the MAC preservationists who restored it, and all those who’ve relied upon it for over a century and a half. April 26-May 19 Cape May’s Spring Celebration Celebrate the season of spring in America’s first seaside resort with four weeks of events including a private homes tour, ghost tours, food and wine events, a Sip Into Spring Festival and crafts show, living history programs, Armed Forces Day, murder mystery dinners and much more. May 4 United States Coast Guard Community Festival Festival goers will explore the extensive TRA- CEN base on foot and by trolley, get an inside look at US Coast Guard vessels and view a Coast Guard helicopter up close. The Coast Guard Recruit Band and drill team will give engaging performances and US Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City will conduct thrilling search and rescue demonstrations. There will be tours of Cape May Harbor, children’s activities, interactive displays, vendors, food, beer, live music and cultural and historical exhibits. Admission is free. 1 Munro Avenue.
