We commemorate great Russian scientist and organizer Boris Ivanovich LeonovAll-Union Scientific Research and Testing Institute for Medical Devices was established in 1951 in Moscow.Since 1985, it was headed by General Director, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Boris Leonov.Since 1993, B.I. Leonov headed the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences. The Academy brings togetherprominent scientists and experts in various fields of medical and technical sciences, education, rehabilitationand prevention systems, medical industry, as well as the outstanding state and public figures, inventors,developers and manufacturers of medical equipment.In 1988, based on the experimental plant at the All-Russian Research Institute for Medical Engineering(VNIIIMT), Scientific and Production Association "Ekran" was established.Scientific and Production Association "Ekran" implements the scientific and technical solutions to providethe healthcare institutions with medical devices, system of products and medical technologies standardization,system developments, testing, registration and certification of medical devices; organization of manufacturingand use of medical devices and their metrological support, efficiency and safety of use as well as the developmentof social, legal, administrative and operational tasks, training and retraining of engineering personnel forthe national health care system.VNIIIMT provides information and technical assistance to various clinics and hospitals of the country, activelycooperates with the Moscow Higher Technical School named after N.E. Bauman. Every year increasesthe number of young scientists who defend candidate and doctoral dissertations in the Regional DissertationCouncil functioning in VNIIIMT.Conducted are research and development works on combating diseases that are a particular threat to thehealth of the nation as a whole (tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS, hepatitis B and C, diabetes, cancer, avian and swineflu, drug addiction, alcoholism etc.).A special place belongs to the issues of standardization,certification, metrology and testingof domestic and foreign medical equipment.Successful field of SPA "Ekran" activity is thedevelopment of mobile medical complexes for avariety of health problems, as well as for preparationof drinking water from open reservoirs andwells.VNIIIMT has a license to issue more than 300medical devices for different areas of medicine.Issue 16.
