Trinity School at Greenlawn Annual Appeal 2018-19

EXTRACURRICULAR SUCCESS
In 2019, Trinity School at Greenlawn fielded six
Mock Trial teams and five qualified for the state
competition. Three of those teams placed 1st, 3rd,
and 5th in a field of 24. The senior team, the Ides
of March, led by veteran coaches Peter Morgan and
Jesse Barrett, traveled to historic Athens, Georgia
for the national competition. Facing state championship
teams from around the country, as well as
teams from Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands,
and South Korea, Ides of March (now known as Team
Indiana) went 3-1 and placed 11th overall.
Dennis Staffelbach, an attorney and faculty member
at Trinity, started the program and continues to
serve as its coordinator. He attributes the success of
the program to the dedicated coaches, hard-working
students, and the collaborative nature of the enterprise.
“We are not a school of five or six autonomous
teams, but rather students and coaches
who cooperate to elicit the best from everyone and
every team, and, more importantly, competing with
dignity, and respect for the other schools.” In the
last four years, four Trinity teams have competed in
the final championship round, and a team has won
the Indiana State Championship the last two years
in a row.
