The John Garrett

Scholarship

John Garrett graduated from St. Joseph High School in

1979. On April 14, 1994 he was killed when a black hawk

helicopter he was piloting was mistakenly shot down over a

“no-fly” zone in northern Iraq by American F-15 fighters.

Since education was very important to him, the John William

Garrett, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established. His family

wants to help with tuition for next year in the way of a

scholarship. The winner receives a $500 scholarship.

This student was selected by John’s family after reading his/her

essay on “My Dream Is To…”

The recipient of this

year's John Garrett

Scholarship is:

Zhou Yinan
