Yummy…Breadmaking in Mrs. Bledsoe’s Class! Water, yeast, oil, flour and more flour with lots of kneading makes bread! To demonstrate how one has to have some math skills to cook, Mrs. Bledsoe’s third grade class, at Broadway Elementary, made loaves of bread. It took just the right measurement of water with just the right about amount of flour to make dough. Which one student decided to taste! Broadway and Nevin Coppock Elementary held Kindergarten Screening! It’s an exciting time for future kindergarteners and their parents! This week Tipp City school district educators screened the class of 2024 for Kindergarten readiness! Both students and parents were nervous!
It’s Nesting Time! Nevin Coppock First Graders built their own nests! Thanks to a grant from the Tipp Foundation, Nevin Coppock First Graders participated in Boonshoft Museum’s Birds and Nesting! It’s nesting time and Birds are ingenious builders. The ‘why’, ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘how’ of bird nest building was explored with model birds and their nests. Each student made a nest and took it home. The Aullwood Avian Art Contest Each year five local schools are involved in the Aullwood Avian Art contest. Kindergarten through sixth grade students work from January through March to complete two-dimensional pieces of artwork relating to Ohio birds, endangered birds of Ohio, or neo-tropical birds that migrate though Ohio. Ten students from Nevin Coppock participated and the winners are: Ohio Birds and Their Homes (Grades K, 1, 2) 1st Place: Carli Federle 2nd Place: Camden Swartout 3rd Place: Anna Dearth Endangered Birds, Endangered Habitats (Grade 3) 1st Place: Brenan Larned 2nd Place: Sarah McKinney 3rd Place: Allison Brunswick These students get a gift card to the Aullwood Nature Center BEST OF SHOW Second Place Brenan Larned Brenan won a family membership to Aullwood for one year, and his choice of a week of Nature Camp at Aullwood or a $100 gift card to Meijer.
