available from early 2021 through Claas
Harvest Centre and selected dealers
cultivating interest
Amazone’s new
lightweight cultivator
range will be available in
Australia early next year
Suited for both shallow cultivation and deep tillage,
Amazone’s new Cenio mounted cultivator range is set to
hit Australian shores in early 2021, according to the company’s
local distributors.
Claas Harvest Centre’s head of product Paul Birbeck says
the Cenio series is available in working widths of 3, 3.5 and 4
metres and is suitable for tractors with between 100 and 200
horsepower (75 to 149kW).
“Each model features three rows of tines set on 30cm spacings
to prevent blockages, even in heavy residue,” Birbeck says.
“The leg shape also produces an excellent mixing behaviour,
which means that any harvest residues are optimally mixed
into the soil.
“The special shape of the leg gently lifts the ground at the point
and does not switch to a steep angle of attack until the guide
plate area is reached.”
Amazone says the Cenio series’ C-Mix Clip quick-change
system enables cultivator shares to be quickly replaced or
changed to best match operating conditions.
“The 350mm C-Mix wing share is ideal for shallow cultivating
stubbles, while the 80mm C-Mix share is ideal for deeper
cultivation to 25cm,” the company says.
The tines can reach depths of between 5 and 25cm, with depth
settings adjusted either mechanically, on the machine itself, or
hydraulically from the tractor cab – with an automatic levelling
unit also available.
“The levelling unit can be fitted with 410mm ser ated concave
discs to process heavy stubble,” Birbeck says.
All discs come equipped with maintenance-free bearings, while
the Cenio can also be equipped with 10 different roller types for
reconsolidation.
“The quick-change system means the roller can be decoupled
altogether or replaced with a different roller to best suit the
prevailing soil type,” Birbeck adds.
The Amazone Cenio series complements the company’s
existing Cenius range. Farmers can equip the new Cenio series
with the ‘Special’ or ‘Super’ tines found on the Cenius series.
“The ‘Special’ configu ation has a shear bolt overload safety
protection, while the ‘Super’ has a compression spring instead,”
Birbeck says. “Both systems ensure that the working depth is
always maintained, even under dry and harsh conditions.”
online due to Covid-19 concerns
Field days online
Agfest organisers plan
online May event after
being forced to cancel Field
Days due to the COVID-19
outbreak
Agfest is back thanks to some out-of-the-box thinking and
assistance from the Tasmanian Government and local
design and project management companies.
The state’s premier field day – cancelled in late Ma ch due
to COVID-19 – has instead adopted a “ground-breaking online
platform” set to run until May 28.
The online platform will be marketed to a global audience to
enable up to 1,000 companies to promote Agfest specials, with
organisers anticipating deals on products including tractors,
sheds and caravans, as well as woollen socks, towels and
water tanks.
Agfest chairman Ethan Williams says he hopes the digital
Agfest will make a real difference to local businesses and the
Tasmanian economy.
“Rural Youth and the Agfest Committee are ever so grateful
to the Tasmanian Government for recognising the importance
of this innovative idea and providing a much-needed grant to
enable us to design, develop, promote and manage this project,”
Williams says.
“We know many of our highly-valued exhibitors had already
purchased stock, booked accommodation and flights engaged
extra staff and spent considerable money on signage and
design for their stands, and many of these companies heavily
rely on revenue from the event as they head into the quieter
winter months.
“We are delighted that we can now develop this platform to
generate sales and economic activity to support them.”
