SRETHGIE CAPTAIN
Zhu Ling Kai
1. How was your journey this year
as captain?
This year’s journey has been nothing short
of an incredible, humbling and heartwarming
experience for us captains. Planning for
Srethgie 19/20 started earlier than usual
due to redefined visions and goals for the
team. From cohesions, dance sharings, Cult
Night performances to HOCC practices,
we’re proud to say we achieved our goals
and made valuable memories together as
one Srethgie. The decision to revamp our
creative direction of our item this year was
both risky and bold. The novel idea of creating
a dance piece with a heavy storyline
definitely pushed the shepherds’ creative
boundaries. After months of strugtle, we
were able to present an item that we are
super proud of: Srethgie Mystery 19/20.
This unconventional year has definitely not
been the easiest. The change in timeline, revamp
of ideas and the final decision of pulling
out of HOCC has made this year even
more special for the dancers. The constant
hiccups for the team due to COVID-19
were sudden and heavy to bear, but the
decision to pull out was a unanimous one.
In Srethgie, we start out as one team and
end the journey together as one team. As
much as this is a competition, we valued
the experience and family spirit of Srethgie
more than anything else. This might even be
a blessing in disguise as this situation had
made Srethgie stronger than ever.
We’re blessed to be able to lead Srethgie as
Captains this year and to be able to witness
the magic of Srethgie once again. Srethgie is
special to us. Thank you Srethgie for inspiring
us to become better dancers, leaders,
humans. <3
2. Anyone you’d like to show
gratitude to?
Thank you Srethgie for trusting the choreographers
from the start till the end. It
was a straightforward decision to make
but it was definitely not easy for everyone
to handle the hard truth. The fact that you
guys stayed together and remained positive
as one reassured us that all the planning
was worthwhile. We are also thankful for
the dancers for turning our visions into reality
- a beautiful, unique dance piece.
Thank you Srethgie Alumni for being the
pillar of support for the team every year. It
is so heartwarming to see everyone come
back during our item vettings and hearing
your constructive feedback and criticisms
definitely pushed us on to become better
as one.
Thank you to the Shepherds team for always
being so open-minded, motivated and
caring. You guys are the best team we could
ever asked for and we’re grateful to be
your captains for this year.
It was each and every one of you that made
the difference and you should be proud that
once again, the Srethgie Magic is created.
