Dinner & Dance
“I think what makes being a pageantee in Hall 8 the most special is having seniors who prioritize
creating a friendship group that would last a life time over having the most crazy spectacular show
for the dinner and dance event! This made pageant a lot less stressful than whatever I imagined
in my head before embarking on this journey. Looking back, I’m super honored and thankful to
be given the chance to be part of this batch of pageantees and for the friendships forged with
like-minded people who I click with very easily. They have remained a huge part of my year1 in
university and I can’t be anymore appreciative to have found this first group of close friends since
the very start of uni life.
Of course, special shoutout to all the people who supported us throughout our 3 weeks of
training, and especially my fellow batch mates in K clan for never excluding me even though I was
absent from all clan activities in the 3 weeks!!
All in all, I think one of the best thing that ever happen to me in NTU will always be this unexpected
experience I got and the people who walked it through with me. They always say its not
the final destination but the journey, and I can safely say that DnD’19 was a true exemplification
of that for me.” - Isabel
After almost daily practices for weeks, our team
of pageantees put up an amazing performance for
the residents which got us cheering throughout.
Along with the performance, we had engaging
themed games that were planned by the DnD
commitee members.
“I guess my DnD experience was one of my first steps
out of my comfort zone in Hall. It’s not a norm for most
people to strut down a runway and dance in front of
friends and peers, but I’m so glad I said yes.
Highlights would be our practices at the dance studio
and it kind of eased me into Hall a little bit; you know,
having a consistent timing to meet with the same bunch
of friends to dance and have a laugh. A specific moment
would definitely be the beach boys segment where we
were basically unapologetically sexy and twerking and
all.
We were initially so tame with our ideas, but it just
escalated at godspeed. I remember we made Shi Hui
super uncomfortable with our dance moves and we
ended up toning it down a few notches for the final
performance (aw man). Being topless was also challenging
for me in the beginning. Like, walking and staring at
yourself in the mirror is awkward enough, but doing it
topless was just off the charts. Plus, we had to show a
very candid and genuine smile. We pulled it off eventually
thanks to all the amazing help from our PCs who
did this before.
Our first meeting together was so awkward because
we had to start walking and be in character already!
That was when I met Chloe, my partner, for the first
time. I remember I just had all these really wacky and
stupid ideas in my head and I didn’t know if she’ll be
into it. By stupid ideas I mean like doing a slut-drop
out of nowhere and twerking on stage etc. Eventually,
our ideas kind of bounced off one another and that
was super fun! The idea for our couple dance was just
something comical and 歌 台 -ish and I think we
nailed it HAHAH! Chloe was such an amazing
sport and she also gave really funny ideas
for the dance. Best partner ever sia honestly,
couldn’t have asked for a better partner to do
this with.
We still hang out for meals and celebrate
birthdays till this day and I’m just really thankful
for all the laughs and experiences we’ve shared
together! Love y’all! - Wing Tin
