Dearest Eighters,
It gives me great pleasure to open this preface to
Hall 8’s Yearbook.
In spite of the challenges and movement restrictions
brought about by COVID19 in the latter
part of this past academic year and the impact
that this has had on our planned programs and
activities, this year continues to be a fulfilling and
meaningful year for Hall 8. This would not have
been possible without the collective efforts of
the Hall 8 family and, in particular, our tireless
JCRC and RMs and the other participants in the
various committees that add to the vibrancy and
energy of this place we all call home.
Our RE (Residential Education) offerings continue
to be a major highlight of our Hall calendar
and whilst we have had to shelve our SprayPaint
program for this year (because of the ongoing situation),
we managed to execute a very successful
Football & Freestyling program. Our newly
launched series of centralised culinary sessions
were also very well attended and it was great to
see so many residents trying their hand in executing
delicious and delectable dishes and diligently
honing their “master chef” skills.
A special shout out also to all our sporting talents
in Hall 8, and the committees that support
them, who continue to impress and inspire us
with their indefatigable energy and great sportsmanship
and skills. You folks do us proud, each
and every time.
The Royals and Srethgie, as always, continue to
break new ground and boundaries in their stellar
performances and choreography and are a source
of pride and joy to all Eighters. Kudos to them.
I also continue to be very proud of the contributions
that many of you have made through
your participation in the various committees
that make events such as our Rojak! Day, Introduction
to Cultural Night and Halloween, Supper
Hop and Exam Encouragement Day possible and
so thoroughly enjoyable and meaningful. Bravo to
each of you!
On behalf of my fellow FiRs, my warmest thanks
and gratitude go out to each and every one of
you who continue to work tirelessly behind the
scenes for the betterment of Hall 8. May you
continue to be an inspiration to those around
you and may God bless all of you always.
Please continue to stay safe and healthy, and look
out for and support each other during these
unprecedented and difficult times. We will see
through these challenges together, as a family, as
we have always done. May the enduring Hall 8
spirit continue to shine bright always!
Yours sincerely,
Samtani Anil
