Their core values are prevalent in all aspects of theschool and the classrooms. Confident young women graduate from theAcademy of the Holy Names fully prepared and empowered for college andbeyond, while the young men who graduate from the 8th grade go on toprestigious secondary schools and lead highly successful lives. The sisterhoodformed during the girls' high school years at the Academy lasts a lifetime andprovides a bond of faith, friendship, service and love.The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) were founded in1843 in Longueuil, Quebec, by Blessed Marie Rose Durocher. They were one ofthe first Canadian congregations of women religious dedicated to the ministryof all forms of education – education in the faith, education in schools andeducation for justice. Attuned to the radical call of the Gospel, and ever faithfulto their charism as instruments of transformation, the Sisters hold the fulldevelopment of the human person at the very core of their mission, firmlybelieving that education is liberating action. TheAcademy’s recent extensive renovation and expansion of the campus isdesigned to support contemporary best practices in education. Fundedthrough the Academy Ascending campaign, the school now features the BaileyFamily Center for the Arts, Prince Family Middle School Center, high schoolredesign, new learning studios and common spaces, outdoor learning deck,collaborative and individual workspaces, enhanced technology, flexiblefurnishings, expanded science labs and more thanks to generous supportthroughout the Academy community.
