This Challenging Time

Sole practitioners and small firm lawyers may face unique challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. As
a new solo myself, I can relate. However, in every challenge, there are opportunities. Here are ten things
to try to make the most of this challenging time.

1. Work on your Process and Procedures.
Process and procedures can provide a roadmap
for daily operations. Your documented
procedures may include both administrative
and client service workflows. Processes can
include client intake, document filing, client
communication, task or practice management
software and other tools.
Having clear systems in place will allow you
to better communicate with staff, clients, and
opposing counsel. It also adds consistency to
your practice.
If your practice has slowed down, optimizing
your processes will help you seize opportunities
when things are up and running once again. If
you are finding yourself extra busy during this
time, working on your processes will help you
get the most out of your limited time.
