Many citizens have remembered the lawdegree as the ideal embodiment of a head of state. Significant historicalevents occurred during his tenure, including German reunification andthe end of the Cold War. The present stamp will appear on the occasionof his 100th birthday. of the CDU since 1954 and was involved in the Evangelical Churchin Germany. He enjoyed a high reputation among the population andacross all parties. He has been awarded numerous prizes and honorarydoctorates for his political and social work.
