Prof. Dr. Schamma Schahadat
Symposiumsleiterin; Professorin für
Slavische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft
an der Universität Tübingen. Ihre
Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen Literaturund
Kulturtheorie, Gender Studies, Translation
Studies, sowie Fotografie und Film. Sie ist
Mitherausgeberin (mit Konrad Klejsa und
Margarete Wach) von „Der Polnische Film - Von
seinen Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart“ und von
„Erweiterung des Horizonts. Fotoreportage in
Polen im 20. Jahrundert“, 2019 (mit Iwona
Kurz, Renata Makarska, Margarete Wach).
Schahadat is professor of Slavic literatures
and cultures at the University of Tübingen and
this year's head of Symposium. Her research
interests cover literary and cultural theory,
gender studies, translation studies, film
and photography. She is the co-editor (with
Konrad Klejsa and Margarete Wach) of „Der
Polnische Film - Von seinen Anfängen bis zur
Gegenwart“ and (with Iwona Kurz, Renata
Makarska, Margarete Wach) of „Erweiterung
des Horizonts. Fotoreportage in Polen im 20.

Lecture The East, the Film and the Archive –
Changes in Film Cultures of Central, Eastern
and South-Eastern Europe after 1989 and its

Dr. Margarete Wach Symposiumsleiterin;
wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Seminar für
Medienwissenschaften der Universität Siegen.
Von 2003-2013 künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche
Mitarbeiterin an der Kunsthochschule für
Medien Köln. Seit 1994 arbeitet sie als
Dramaturgin, Filmkritikerin und -kuratorin, und
unterrichtet seit 2014 Film an der Universität
Tübingen. Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten
gehören das Kino Mittel- und Osteuropas,
Geschichte und Ästhetik des Dokumentarfilms,
Filmkoproduktionen, Filmkultur und
Fotografie. Neben Herausgeberschaften,
zahlreichen Aufsätzen in Sammelbändern
und Fachperiodika zählen zu ihren
Veröffentlichungen u.a. „Krzysztof Kieślowski.
Zufall und Notwendigkeit“ (2. Aufl., 2014)
und „Nouvelle Vague Polonaise?“ (2015, poln.
Ausgabe 2017).
Wach is a researcher at the University of
Siegen’s Seminar for Media Studies and is
this year's head of Symposium. From 2003 to
2013, she was a staff member in both artistic
and scholarly capacities at the Academy of
Media Arts Cologne. She has worked since
1994 as a dramaturge, film critic and film
curator, and since 2014 she teaches seminars
on film at the University of Tübingen. Among
other topics, her research focuses on the
cinema of Central and Eastern Europe,
the history and aesthetics of documentary
cinema, film co-productions, cinema culture
and photography. Alongside co-edited
works, numerous essays in anthologies
and professional journals, her publications
include “Krzysztof Kieślowski. Zufall und
Notwendigkeit” (2nd edition 2014) and
“Nouvelle Vague Polonaise?” (2015, Polish
edition 2017).

Dr. habil. Marcin Adamczak
Professor der anthropologischen und
kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der
Adam-Mickiewicz-Universität Posen und
Gastprofessor an der Hochschule für Film,
Fernsehen und Theater in Łódź und an
der Universität Danzig. Er hat drei Bücher
veröffentlicht, darunter „Obok ekranu.
Perspektywa badań produkcyjnych a
społeczne istnienie filmu“ (2014) und
hat darüber hinaus zahlreiche Beiträge in
akademischen Zeitschriften veröffentlicht.
Adamczak ist Mitglied der FIPRESCI und des
Verbandes Polnischer Filmschaffender sowie
Mitbegründer der Verleihfirma Velvet Spoon.
Adamczak is a professor at the Faculty of
Anthropology and Cultural Studies at the Adam
Mickiewicz University in Poznań and visiting
professor at the Łódź Film School and the
University of Gdańsk. He is the author of three
books, "Obok ekranu. Perspektywa badań
produkcyjnych a społeczne istnienie filmu"
(2014) among them, but also has numerous
publications in academic journals and coedited
books. He is a member of FIPRESCI
and the Polish Filmmakers Association, as well
as a co-founder of the distribution company
Velvet Spoon.
