A WALL IS
A SCREEN
Häuserwände werden zu
Leinwänden bei „A Wall is a
Screen“. Die filmische Stadterkundung
mit der Hamburger
Künstler/innengruppe belebt
das abendliche Wiesbaden und
beleuchtet dessen unbekanntere
Ecken. Gemeinsam mit dem
Publikum und mobiler Projektionstechnik
wandert „A Wall
is a Screen“ zu Fuß durch den
Wohnbezirk Klarenthal und
zeigt osteuropäische Kurzfilme
an bisher wenig bekannten
Orten. Im Bezirk leben bereits
viele Wiesbadener/innen mit osteuropäischen
Wurzeln, während
des Stadtspaziergangs wird ihre
Kultur sichtbar gemacht. Durch
die gemeinsame Intervention
wird der öffentliche Raum
umdefiniert, Architektur wird
zur Leinwand und Film und Ort
werden in einen neuen Kontext
gesetzt.
„A Wall is a Screen“ begeistert
das Publikum jedes Mal aufs
Neue, die visuelle Stadterkundung
ist einmalig, einzigartig
und diesmal speziell auf
Wiesbaden-Klarenthal und
goEast zugeschnitten.
“A Wall is a Screen” turns the
facades of buildings and houses
into surfaces for the projection
of moving pictures. The cinematic
urban exploration staged
by the Hamburg-based artists
collective aims to animate the
Wiesbaden evening and shine a
light on the city’s lesser-known
corners. Together with the
audience and armed with
modern mobile projection equipment,
“A Wall is a Screen” will
stroll through the residential
district of Klarenthal and show
Eastern European short films
at places that have remained
largely neglected to date. The
neighbourhood is already home
to many Wiesbadeners with
Eastern European roots – their
culture will also be made visible
in the scope of this unique
outing. The shared intervention
seeks to redefine public space,
transforming architecture into
open-air “big screens”, while
placing both film and location in
a new context.
“A Wall is a Screen” always manages
to delight audiences anew:
this year’s visual exploration of
the city is one-of-a-kind, unique
– and specially conceived this
time for Wiesbaden-Klarenthal
and goEast.
