Zane Balčus Sie ist Leiterin des Baltic
Sea Forums für Dokumentarfilme in Riga,
Forschungsassistentin am wissenschaftlichen
Forschungszentrum der lettischen
Kulturakademie und freischaffende
Filmkritikerin. Sie verfügt über weitreichende
Erfahrungen in Programm-, Kuratierungs- und
Managementbereichen in verschiedenen
Organisationen. Sie war von 2014 bis 2019
Direktorin des Filmmuseums in Riga, ist zudem
Ko-Autorin mehrerer Bücher über das lettische
Kino und schreibt für zahlreiche Publikationen
über das Kino (einschließlich Film New
Europe). Sie war Mitglied der FIPRESCI-Jury
beim Internationalen Dokumentarfilmfestival
Amsterdam 2019. Ein Jahr zuvor war sie als
Teil des goEast Symposiums zum Kino der
baltischen Länder in Wiesbaden zu Gast.

Christoph Terhechte
Der Jounalist und Filmkritiker ist Intendant und
künstlerischer Leiter von DOKLeipzig – dem
Internationalen Festival für Dokumentar- und
Animationsfilm. Von 2001 bis 2018 war
er Direktor im Internationalen Forum der
Berlinale, bei dem er bereits seit 1997 zum
Auswahlgremium gehörte. 2018 und 2019
übernahm er die künstlerische Leitung des
Internationalen Filmfestivals von Marrakesch.
Terhechte wurde 1961 in Münster geboren. Er
studierte Politikwissenschaft und Journalistik
an der Universität Hamburg. Als Filmjournalist
und -kritiker arbeitete er ab 1984 unter
anderem für die Tageszeitung „taz“ in
Hamburg. 1988 zog er als freiberuflicher
Journalist nach Paris, bevor er von 1991 bis
1997 die Ressortleitung Film des Berliner
Stadtmagazins „Tip“ übernahm.
Journalist and film critic Christoph Terhechte
is the artistic and managing director of
DOKLeipzig – the International Festival for
Documentary and Animated Film. From 2001
to 2018, he was director of the International
Forum at the Berlinale, where he had been
a member of the selection committee since
1997. Between 2018 and 2019 he took
over the artistic direction of the Marrakech
International Film Festival. He was born in
Münster in 1961 and studied political science
and journalism at the University of Hamburg.
He worked as a film journalist and film critic
starting in 1984 for the "taz" daily newspaper
in Hamburg, among other periodicals. In
1988, he moved to Paris as a freelance
journalist before becoming the head of the film
department of the Berlin city magazine “Tip”
from 1991 to 1997.
Zane Balčus is the head of the Baltic Sea
Forum for Documentaries in Riga, Latvia,
a junior research assistant at the Scientific
Research Centre of the Latvian Academy of
Culture and a freelance film critic. Balčus
has extensive experience in programming,
curatorial and management fields in different
organizations. She served as director of Riga
Film Museum from 2014 to 2019. She is a coauthor
of several books on Latvian cinema and
contributes to various publications on cinema
(including Film New Europe). She has been a
member of the FIPRESCI jury at International
Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
2019. A year prior she was part of the goEast
Symposium on Baltic cinema.
