Ich habe einige andauernde
Erinnerungen der Zeit, die ich
in den letzten zwei Dekaden bei
goEast verbracht habe: Zunächst
die lebendigen und faszinierenden
Q&As mit dem rumänischen
Regisseur Lucian Pintilie und
dem polnischen Schauspieler
Jerzy Stuhr. Ein anderes Mal
leitete ich eine Diskussion
über das serbische Kino und
konnte irgendwann kaum noch
das Publikum sehen, weil alle
Diskutanten Kette rauchten
und große Mengen Rauch
produzierten! Ein weiterer
Höhepunkt war die Diskussion
„Let’s Keep Talking“, die ich
2014 mit Filmschaffenden aus
Russland und der Ukraine hatte,
nur Wochen nach Russlands
Annexion der Krim.
Während das Filmfestival
Cottbus seinen CoCo Co-Production
Market hat, hat goEast sich
clever auf die Unterstützung der
nächsten Generation Filmschaffender
aus Ost und West durch
eine Vielzahl an Initiativen
fokussiert. Die Karrieren von
Jasmila Zbanić, Cristian Mungiu
und Kornél Mundruczó sind
beispielsweise unwiderruflich
mit der von goEast offerierten
Plattform verbunden.
I have several abiding memories
of my times spent at goEast over
the past two decades: firstly,
the lively and fascinating Q&As
with the Romanian director
Lucian Pintilie and the Polish
actor-director Jerzy Stuhr. On
another occasion, I chaired
a discussion about Serbian
cinema and, at some point,
could hardly make out the
audience as practically all of the
panelists were heavy smokers
and produced large amounts of
dense smoke! Another highlight
was the discussion - "Let's Keep
Talking" - I had with filmmakers
from Russia and Ukraine in
Wiesbaden in 2014, only weeks
after Russia's annexation of
Crimea. While FilmFestival Cottbus
has its CoCo co-production
market, goEast has been astute
in focusing on supporting the
next generation of filmmakers
from East and West through its
various initiatives. For example,
the careers of such directors as
Jasmila Zbanić, Cristian Mungiu
and Kornél Mundruczó are
inextricably linked with the
platform offered by goEast.
