sehen. Dann Marlen Chucievs
Besuch 2015 – ein sehr feiner
Mensch und wunderbarer
Regisseur. (…) Weiterhin werden
Filme aus den goEast-Ländern
hierzulande zu wenig gezeigt.
Und weiterhin gilt es einer
gewissen westlichen Überheblichkeit
entgegenzutreten. In den
Filmgeschichten Osteuropas gibt
es immer noch viel zu entdecken
und wieder zugänglich zu
machen.

beautiful to witness. Then there
was Marlen Khutsiev’s visit in
2015 – such a classy person and
a wonderful director. (…) Films
from the goEast countries are
still shown far too little in Germany.
And it is still necessary
to counter a certain Western
sense of superiority. There is
still a lot to be discovered and
made accessible again in the film
histories of Eastern Europe.

Ich erinnere mich sehr gut an
mein erstes goEast Festival.
KOKTEBEL von Popogrebsky
und Khlebnikov erhielt den
Hauptpreis. Das war echte Unterstützung
für die Russische Neue
Welle, wir waren stolz darauf
und hegten große Erwartungen.
Das Kino Mittel- und Osteuropas
sowie der Länder der ehemaligen
Sowjetunion sprüht vor
Talent und Ideen. Es ist schade,
dass dieses Kino immer noch
im Verborgenen bleibt. goEast
nimmt sich dieses Teiles der
Welt an: eine sehr, sehr wichtige
kulturelle Mission.
I remember very well my first
goEast festival. KOKTEBEL by
Popogrebsky and Khlebnikov
collected the main prize. It was
real support for the Russian New
Wave, and we were proud of it
and felt great expectations. The
cinema of Central and Eastern
Europe and countries of the
former Soviet Union is extremely
rich in talent and ideas. It is
a pity that this cinema still
remains in the shadows. The
goEast festival puts this part of
the world in focus: a very, very
important cultural mission.

goEast fühlt sich wie eine
Familie oder ein Wiedersehen
gleichgesinnter Freunde an,
und eine der vielen Freuden
der Festivalwoche ist, jedes
Jahr Gäste und Teammitglieder
wieder zu treffen.
goEast verdankt seine Dringlichkeit
der großen Sorgfalt,
Reflexion, und nicht zuletzt Leidenschaft,
mit der es klassische
und aktuelle (filmische) Sichten
auf Themen beleuchtet, die die
jeweiligen Länder und Zeiten
bewegen.
goEast feels like a family, or like
reuniting with friends that are
on the same wavelength, and one
of the many joys of the festival
week is meeting up again with
guests and team members every
year.
goEast owes its urgency to the
great care, reflection and, not
least of all, passion with which it
illuminates classic and contemporary
(cinematic) views of
issues that move the respective
countries and eras.
