Drei voneinander unabhängige Musikkomödien
mit absurdem Humor bilden einen Omnibusfilm,
der die spätjugoslawische Untergangs- und Aufbruchsatmosphäre
einfängt: Junge Rebellen und
ein Jugo-Ninja. Dracula, eine verführte Unschuld,
und dann die ewige Liebe. Eine Schneiderin, ein
eifersüchtiger Ehemann und geheime Briefe.
Und überall Musik: Volksmusik, Rock'n'Roll,
Punkrock, Rap. Die Musik und ein Übermaß an
popkulturellen Zeichen sind Ausdruck inoffizieller
Subkulturen, ohne jedoch politisch zu sein. Ganz
im Gegenteil – den Protagonist/innen dieser Filme
geht es im Wesentlichen um sich selbst, um ein
unbeschwertes, musikalisches Lebensgefühl. (scs)
Three separate musical comedies, all marked by
absurd humour, brought together in an anthology
film that captures the atmosphere of downfall and
revolt during the final days of socialist Yugoslavia.
We encounter young rebels and a Balkan ninja.
We get to know Dracula, seduced innocence and
eternal love. We learn of a seamstress, a jealous
husband and secret letters. And there is music
everywhere: folk music, rock'n'roll, punk rock,
rap. These tunes and the abundance of pop-cultural
symbols are the expression of unofficial
subcultures, though they may not be political.
Quite the opposite in fact – the films’ protagonists
are primarily concerned with themselves, with
cultivating a carefree, musical attitude towards
life.
Im Gleichklang mit Edisons Erfindung des
elektrischen Lichts erblicken die Zwillingsschwestern
Dóra und Lili das Licht der Welt. Während
der Kindheit getrennt, halten sie auf unterschiedlichen
Pfaden mit dem neuen Jahrhundert Schritt:
Lili als Anarchistin, Dóra als Schwindlerin. Ihre
Wege kreuzen sich immer wieder, zumal beide
eine Affäre mit einem geheimnisvollen Aristokraten
haben. In seiner Vorstellung verschmelzen
sie zu einer Person, der perfekten Frau. Enyedis
allegorische Zeitreise zu den Ursprüngen des 20.
Jahrhunderts zeichnet in ironischen Brechungen
Stationen zweier Lebenswege als Verweise auf
nicht eingelöste Zukunftserwartungen nach. (mw)
Twin sisters Dóra and Lili emerge from the womb
to see the light of the sun the exact day that Edison
unveils his revolutionary incandescent bulb.
Separated during childhood, they keep pace with
the new century on differing paths: Lili as an
anarchist, Dóra as a con artist. Their lives intersect
repeatedly, particularly as they are both having
an affair with the same mysterious aristocrat. In
the gentleman’s imagination, they blend into a
single individual, the perfect woman. Full of ironic
ruptures, Enyedi’s allegorical trip back in time
to the roots of the 20th century depicts stations
in the lives of its two female protagonists as
manifestations of an envisioned future that would
fail to materialise.
