Indian journalist in Melbourne launches magazine for students An Indian journalist living in Australia has come out with a magazine to help the Indian students there find jobs, accommodation and information on immigration issues. 'The magazine deals with education, job search, accommodation and migration issues, and will help the Indian students who go there for educational purposes,' Thiruvallam Bhasi, the editor of the magazine called Indian Student told IANS from Melbourne. 'Of late thousands of Indian students come to Australia every year for admissions in universities here. Our magazine provides in-depth details of the new courses, universities and campuses. It also provides a forum for the overseas students to communicate,' said Bhasi who worked as a journalist in Kerala a year ago. Seeing the huge response from the students at the launch of the first issue in October, Bhasi is now getting ready to launch the magazine in New Zealand and Britain in January, where a large number of Indian students go. The Panchamukhee Durga Utsav - so-called because it was begun by five friends - was inaugurated only last year but is already turning out to be a hot favourite among the thousands of Bengalis in London. It is the newest of London's 20-odd Durga Pujas, and organised entirely by young Bengali technology professionals who have migrated to Britain relatively recently, within the last decade. With a core group of some 70 volunteers - professionals working in London for companies as diverse as IBM, Carphone Warehouse and Mahendra Tech - this puja is the spiritual child of globalization and its foot soldiers, those Indians whose high skills in software engineering are sought after around the world today.
