MOST HOME owners who<br />

have lawns are probably pretty<br />

happy that summer is in its last<br />

month - almost as happy as I am when I find an old bone<br />

buried out in the yard. Until it’s time to store the mower<br />

away, here are some tips for cutting.<br />

1. Don’t mow your grass when it’s wet. The water<br />

damages the blades and the lawn doesn’t like to be cut<br />

then either. 2. When you’ve let things go for a while and<br />

it’s like a jungle out there, don’t overcompensate and<br />

buzz your lawn. Just cut it in increments until it’s back to<br />

normal, and never cut it more than a third of its current<br />

length. 3. When cutting, always try to keep the length<br />

about three inches from the ground. This helps limit<br />

weed growth, lowers the need for water, and promotes<br />

a strong root structure. Remember, fetch your lawn care<br />
