WiththeuncertaintyduetoCovid19loomingaround,milionsofacademiciansandstudentshavebeenleftinaspotforadoptingvirtuallearning
techniques.Wearenotnew totheconceptofe-learning;however,ithad
neverbeenputtouseasmuchasitisbeingtoday.Thereisnodenialthatthe
voidcreatedbetweenclassroom learningande-learningcannotbefiled.
Nonetheless,therearevarioustoolsandtechniqueswhichhavecroppedup
oflate,inordertobridgethegapbetweentwodiferingmodesofstudy.
Primarily,itisessentialtoacceptthefactthatthissituationisasnew tothe
academiciansasitisforthestudents.Thus,weneedtoletgoofwithour
pre-conceivednotionthattheacademiciansknows-it-al.Thefirsthalfof
thisprocessfunctionsmorelikeapilotproject.Itinvolveslearningforthe

acidatacksurvivorsandYes+Life,workingforcancersurvivors.Shri.I.P.Aggarwal,

MERIGroupofInstitutionsannouncedthatMERIGroupofInstitutionswilprovide
freeeducationforacidatacksurvivors.
ThehighlightoftheculturalfestivalbecameitsuniquethemeandthemotivatingstoriesofMs.RituandMs.Vimlafrom
ChhanvFoundation,whereintheysharedtheir
journeyfrom beinganacidatackvictim toasurvivor,leadingsuccesfulandindependentlives.Furthermore,Dr.NeetiChhabrafrom

storyofbeingdetectedwithbreastcanceratanearlyageof31,survivingthroughit
andnowhelpingpeoplehavingsimilarexperiencesbyspreadingawarenesandprovidingmonetaryasistance.Thiswasfolowedbyavarietyofeventsincludingtalent
showforstudentswithspecialneeds,dance,webmaster,arm wrestling,cookingwithoutfire,fashionshow,singing,RAPbatle,quiz,debate,Mr.andMs.LaKermese,
etc.Lastly,itdrewitscurtainsdownwithanexuberantculturalevening,folowedby
prizedistribution.

AEmpowermentreferstogivingsomeoneauthorityorpower.Theworditselfsayshaving
powertodosomething.Womenempowermentmeansmakingwomenrealisetheirpoweror
tomakethem capableofdecidingforthemselves.Fordecadeswomenhavebeendominated
bythemaleinsociety.Theyhavefacedhardshipforevenbasicrights.Asthetimeshave
evolvedwomenhavestartedtorealisetheirpowerandfrom therewomenrevolutionbegan.
Theproblem beginsinthewayswomenandmenhavebeenbroughtupinsociety.Theoldsocietalnormswherewemakeboththegenderrealisewheretheybelonginsociety.Since
childhoodgirlshavebeenbroughtupinarestrictiveenvironmentwhereasthemaleare
broughtupinalesrestrictiveenvironment.Thereasonisthelackofeducationprovidedto
thegirlchild.Aneducatedwomanwilbringupaneducatedchildwhowildevelopthecountry.AssaidbyQueenRaniaofJordan
"Ifyoueducateawoman,youeducateafamily,if
youeducateagirl,youeducatethefuture".Whenyoueducateawoman,sherealizesher
power,skilsandthatsheisindependent.Womenwereneverintheminority,theyonlylacked
therightresource,education.Thereareseveralprinciplesdefiningwomen'sempowerment
suchas,foronetobeempowered,theymustcomefrom apositionofdisempowerment.
Womenempowermentistheprocesofempoweringwomen.Withwomenempowerment
comesgenderequality.OldSocietalrolesneedtobechanged;theyshouldbenormalized.For
amantolearnhouseholdchoresandforawomantogooutandearnforthefamily.Menneed
tobetaughttoacceptthatdominatingawomanandstoppingherfrom getingevenbasic
rightsdoesnotmakeyouaman,itonlymakesyouacoward.Nogendershouldbecategorizedasaminority;boththegendershaveuniquequalitieswhichweremadetobeaccepted
intherealworld.Weliveinaworldwhereawomen’sopinionislesvaluableascompared
tomen.Manyworldleadersandscholarshavearguedthatsustainabledevelopmentisimpossiblewithoutgenderequalityandwoman'sempowerment.Educationinformsothersofpreventingandcontainingthedisease,anditisanesentialelementofefortstoreducemalnutrition.Furthermore,itempowerswomentomakechoicesthatcanimprovetheirwelfare.

Women!Themostunderatedsexofaltime.Thatgenderwhichcanbeweak
mentalyoremotionalybutnotphysicaly.Theyarephysicalystrongequalyas
men,Butenduremostinsocietysuchasfemaleinfanticide,dowry,sexualharasmentsandsoon.Butthingsarebecomingmuchbeteraspeoplearechangingtheir
mindsetsforladies.Aworldwidedayforwomenisalsocelebratedasinternational
women'sdayon8March.ItwasfirstcelebratedinnewyorkcitybytheSocialist
PartyofAmericaon28February1909.TwoGermandelegatesClaraZetkinand
KateDunckerproposedtoorganizewomen'sdayannualyat1910International
socialistwoman'sconference.AfterwomengainedsufrageinRusiain1917,
March8becamethenationalholidaythere.Thedaywasthenpredominantlycelebratedbythesocialistmovementandcommunistcountriesuntilitwasadoptedby
thefeministmovementinabout1967.In2009,Auroraventuressetupinternationalwomen'sdaywebsitewithcorporatesponsorship.Thewebsitebegantopromote
hashtagsasthemesfortheday,whichbecameusedinternationaly.Likeother
countries,women'sdayiscelebratedwiththesameenthusiasm inIndia.Indiacelebrates13February,SarojiniNaidu'sbirthdayasNationalwomen'sdayofIndia.
Everyindividualororganizationcontributestopromotingwomenempowerment
bytakingpartinactivitieslikedocumentaries,programs,workshops,seminars,etc
orbyjustspreadingawarenesthroughsocialmedia.UN startingsetingthe
themesforworkingtogetherformakingapurposefulwomen'sdayeveryyear,it
wasstartedfrom 1996withthetheme"Celebratingthepast:Planningforthe
future",andhavingdiferentthemeseveryyearfrom then,forexample,
"Genderequalityandthemilennium developmentgoals"for2003,"EqualRights,
EqualOpportunities:ProgresforAl"in2010,"Womeninthechangingworldof
work:Plant50-50by2030withthehashtag#beboldforchangefor2017,"Iam
GenerationEquality:RealizingWomensRights"for2020.Todaywecan
observethechangeinoursocietybutthereisstilsomuchtoworkupon.

Anincidentthatstruck7yearsbeforeinDecember2012.Itwasatragicwaytoendtheyear
forthepeopleoftheNationasa23-year-oldwomannamedJyotiSinghakaNirbhayawho
becamethevictim ofrapeandaswelasfatalasault.The23-year-oldwomanwasbrutaly
rapedandtortured4meninamovingbus,evenafterhavingcompanyofamalefriendwith
her.Shewasthrownoutofthemovingbusaftertheasault.Shewasinpainandfearandironicalynohumanbeingwasreadytohelpthem
ontheroad.Herconditionwasverybadand
afterbatlingforlifefinalyshewasrushedtothehospitalandthingsdidnotseem anybeter.
Policewasabletocatchtheculpritsandthenthewheelofjudiciarystartedtorolatitspace.
Theasaultwasbrutalthatthegirlsuccumbedherinjuriesevenaftershewasrushedtointernationalmedicalasistance.Eventhoughafterknowingthecruelrealityourjudicialsystem
took7longyearstogivejusticetoNirbhayaandherfamilyafterhangingthe4culpritson20th
March2020.
Yet,afterlivinginthe21stcentury,withdevelopingasacountrytheeisasenseofdoubtin
everywoman’sheartthat“Arewethewomenofthiscountrysafe?”
After7yearsofpatienceandtolerancethereisarayofhopethathasrisenintheeyesofeach
andeverywomanlivinginthiscountrythat“Justicewilbeserved.”

Karnatakastate.Shehasplantedmorethan30,000treesandlooksafterthenurseriesofthe
ForestDepartment.Despitehavingnoformaleducation,shehasmadeagreatcontributionto
preservingtheenvironment.HerworkhasbeenhonouredbytheGovernmentofIndiaand
manyotherorganizationsalso.ShewashonouredwithPadmaShri,on26January2020.
Shehascultivatedmorethan30,000treessofar.Evenattheageof72years,sheisdetermined
toplantasaplingandtakecareofthem likeherchildren,tiltheygrowupintotrees.Shehas
beendoingthisforthepastsixdecadeswithoutanyexpectations.Accordingtotheresidents,
orthepeoplelivingnearbyherhousetoldthatshewasactivelyinvolvedintheaforestation.
Shewasborninapoverty-strickenHalakkitribalfamily.Herfatherdiedwhenshewasonly
twoyearsold.Shecouldnotgetanyformaleducation.Sinceherchildhood,sheispromoted
toherworkwithhermother.ShewasmariedtoGovindeGowdaataveryyoungagebuther
husbandalsodiedataveryyoungage.But,afterachievingsomanyawardsaswelasshewas
alsohonouredbyPadmaShri(thefourthhighestcivilianawardinIndia)on71stRepublicDay
ofIndia.Aftergetingsomuchfame,ShriTulsiGowdaremainsdowntoearthandasimple
person.ShecontinuestoliveinasmalhutinKarnatakaandshehasbecomearolemodelfor
manypeople.

Shealsoadmirestoweartheuniform asinschoolandtheninArmedForcesMedicalColege
(AFMC)shehadauniform.Thedayshegraduated,herbatchwasthefirstonetohaveapasingoutparadeandsoshegotintheuniform
from dayone.
ShefeelsgreataboutthatherhusbandisalsoLt.Generalandhasbeenverysupportive.Being
theonlycoupleinthearmyinwhichbothofthem areLt.Generals,theybothreceivesupport
from eachother.
InInthearmyprotocol,thereisathingthattheservingsenioroficersitsontheleftinthe
three-star-flagbearingoficialstafcarandtheoficer’sspousesitsontheright,whichisnormalythewifebutnowithasreversedasshesatontheleftandhesatontherightandherhusbandtofeelsgoodaboutit.Thus,whilethearmyhasbecomefarmoregender-responsivenow,
