The annual gathering is where 161,000 tradeand media attendees spend 4 days checking outthe latest products and ideas for modifying carsand pickup trucks. It is one of the few eventswhere current and classic, modern and retro sitcomfortably together and complement each other tostimulate this multibillion-dollar industry. In parallel,the AAPEX Show, further down the boulevard at theSands Expo deals with the even larger, essentialrepair and maintenance side of the business.Products featured at SEMA Show include thosedesigned to enhance the performance, styling,functionality, comfort, convenience and safety ofcars and light trucks.For Ford fans the fare is fulsome as theperformance aftermarket division of FoMoCo takethis event very seriously, inviting independentvendors to build one-off show specials, as well asdisplaying their own proprietary Ford Performanceproducts. 2019’s show was an event of extremeswith retro and future-tech taking equal but oppositebilling, alongside current model offerings. For loversof classic and retro there were ‘Original VeniceCrew’ recreations of the pioneering Mustang GT350,new Eleanor body shells build off period correct VINdonors and the reappearance of the Ford Bronco inanticipation of a 2020 relaunch. Ford Performancehad gathered together ‘Bronco Alley’ to highlight thecompetition heritage of this tough off-roader beforeentering a new-build Bronco R in the 2019 Baja500. To top off the Bronco revival Ford Performanceunveiled a restomod build of Jay Leno’s 1968Bronco wagon. Built on a Kincer Adventure Seriescoil-over chassis with Fox 2.0 factory race seriescoil-over shocks, its supercharged Mustang GT500V8 5.2 litre engine is coupled to a Tremec TR-40505-speed Silver Sport transmission and heavy-duty4WD drivetrain.Current model sports, SUV and pickup modelswere presented on the central Ford stand inmodified forms by California Pony Cars - FordMustang GT Fastback, Goodguys Rod & CustomAssociation - 2.3 Ecoboost Ford MustangConvertible and 3 F-150 fully accessorised offroaders.Escape, Explorer and Expedition exampleswere also displayed each with a full complement ofin-house and independent aftermarket treatments.Ford Rangers made their way to the 2019 SEMAshow with a wide range of personalised guises.No surprise that the 2019 Ford Performance PartsFord Ranger in the new overlanding section waschock-full of goodies designed to get adventurersdeep into the great outdoors.
