CAPRIa project, and in Jordan’s case, this helped noend. It enabled him good access all around the carwithout the hassle of having to keep moving it outthen in again. The Capris first incarnation saw the undoing ofall the previous alterations done by the previousowner. Jordan was ready to inject some life backinto this once great car. Jordan entrusted somehelp from friends and family on the first journey inreaching how the car is today. Family and friendsall rolled their sleeves up and helped with variousrepairs and bits of fabrication. Welding andfitting replacement panels came together nicelybefore Jordan reached the stage of prepping andpainting. Looking spanking in its new hue, whichJordan tells us is a custom mix of Ford SignalYellow and Amber.Paint dry, in the went the freshly built 2000ccPinto along with some other choice mods, “I wentfor easy mods to start with so I could use the car.Suspension wise, I fitted a full poly bush kit, frontlowering springs, 2.8i single leaf springs. Custommade front strut brace and gas bonnet lifting struts.Inside was made more comfortable with Carlainterior trim taken from an early 2.8i Capri.”Jordan told us he loved every minute building hisCapri but, alas as, like most of us retro Ford nutsyou get used to either the looks, power or handlingand are forever chasing after more, this is what ourJordan succumbed to. “Don’t get me wrong I lovedthe Pinto, they are great engines but being honestI got bored of it,” he says. “Plus, to extract anyamount of reasonable power from it, you’d have tospend a fair bit of cash and not gain much morepower.” As many of you might now be thinking, there are a good few engine choices out there be ita Ford or others, but none of these would suppressJordan’s appetite. Open the long bulged bonnet andgasp at the sight which beholds you, as for hererests a throbbing 2.9 24v Cosworth BOA with notjust one, but two! Yes, count them two whoppingbig Audi A4 K03 turbos strapped to either side. Not leaving out anything else, Jordan opted fora trusty type-9 five-speed gearbox which involvedfitting a 2.8 cross member. Keeping this red hotengine nice and cool comes by way of a 2.8upgraded Coolex aluminium radiator with electricfan. Elsewhere, neatly horned in the bay, feast youreyes on the self-fabricated exhaust manifolds joinedto both turbos. If they don’t grab your attention, check out all the boost pipes and the 2.5” stainlessdownpipes, again all handcrafted by Jordan. Thehigh standard of work that has been ploughed intothis Capri is mind-blowing stuff, taking craftsmanshipto a whole new level and to think this has been doneby someone who is just 22 years of age. Is thereanything this lad can’t turn out?“Well, funny, you should say that,” he laughs.“When I’m not spending time on this I have a 1989Mk2 VW Golf with a 1.8 20VT engine that I’ve fullybuilt myself from the engine and fabrication tothe bodywork and paint.” So, it’s not just the Fordscene that needs to be watching, the VW crew need030 Support us and subscribe online at: www.retrofordmagazine.co.uk
