FROM THE COVERThe Capri 50th celebrations may beover, but here at RetroFord we stillbring you the best out there and theone featured here is an absolute peach!Take your time to read and look at justhow amazing this Capri is. Even more so, is thatowner Jordan Jameson has done all of the work onthis build himself. The only assistance he receivedwas for tasks that required two pairs of hands. Noopen blank cheque book with companies takingthe credit just a real deep passion from a young ladfor all thing cars. “I’ve spent most of my life beingbrought up surrounded by cars,” says the 22-yearoldelectrician from North Cornwall. “When I wasyounger, my parents had a garage, so I spent myweekends and summer holidays there playing withwhatever I could get my hands on.”Although, still holding a flame for motors, Jordanwent in a different direction spending the remainderof his teen years getting into electronics andcomputers, and when he was old enough to drive, cars came back on the scene.“My first car was a 1994 VW Polo 1000cc‘bread van’. Not the quickest set of wheels but ahalf-decent start!.” The Capri is, in fact, Jordan’svery first Ford, which he got not long after his19th birthday. “I just love the shape of the Mk3,”he tells us. “I remember my dad telling me aboutthe ones he had in his teenage years, and the funthey gave him. Sadly, he passed away before hehad the chance to finish a 2.8i project he’d beenworking on, so I felt even more inspired to buildmyself a Capri.” Found on eBay almost four yearsago the car, a 1600 Laser was located in Somerset.“Unfortunately, the car was in deplorable condition. The shell was how I’d describe as being highlycaked in primer with signs of extremely poorbodywork,” Jordan says with a look of horror. “Ithad been de-bumpered, smoothed door handles,a partially stripped interior (with household carpet)and eBay special bucket seats. It had no usableengine with tired suspension and drivetrain.”As much as Jordan likes pristine original cars, the Capri was already far from being that. Ratherthan returning it to standard, he decided to revertmost of the modifications the previous owner haddone and put his own stamp on it. “The mainreason for taking this route was I knew having astandard 1600 Laser would never be something I’dwant, so it ticked all the boxes,” he said.Deal struck and money handed over, the sorrylooking old Ford was heading to its new home forsome well-deserved love and attention. Little didit know just how much it would evolve over thenext few years. Starting with the basics of getting itback on the road, Jordan rolled up his sleeves andgot stuck into restoring and modifying this oncestunning car.“Luckily, I have amazing grandparents, whoslowly allowed me to take over more and moreof their old chicken shed, which I have turned into a fully-fledged workshop!” Having functional, usable space is such a bonus when undertakingSee our behind the scenes footage on Instagram: @retrofordmagazine029
