The 152m long new megacutter Helios can operate up to a depth of 35 meters, at a minimum
dredging depth of 6 meters. This makes the ship suitable for making landings of pipelines. Two
cutters with different heights can be used, which are able to cut extremely hard soil. The cutter
capacity lies between 4,200 and 7,000 kW, the pump capacity is 3 x 5200 kW.
For the Helios, TTT delivered an integrated communication system comprising an ACM phone
system wich was linked to an SPA PA / GA public address / general system. In addition to
the telephone and intercom / talkback functionality, the ACM system is also used for PA /
GA distribution over the speakers and telephone stations. By integrating the ACM and SPA
systems, savings can be made on the number of speakers and amplifier power. Furthermore, the
integration of both systems also has functional advantages, such as giving PA messages from
authorized devices.
