George Gann, Chief Conservation Strategist for the Institute
for Regional Conservation (IRC), was the featured speaker at
the recent Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Luncheon.
IRC is a nonprofit dedicated to the protection, restoration,
and long-term management of ecological diversity.
Mr. Gann spoke to all of the nonprofit representatives about
IRC’s history, current projects like Restoring the Gold Coast and
urged attendees to personally get involved with restoring biodiversity.
“Native ecosystems provide a wide range of benefits, including
habitat for native wildlife and rare plants, and ecosystem
services that people rely on for strong economies and human
wellbeing,” said Mr. Gann. “Ecological restoration practice is
about repairing native ecosystems that have been destroyed or
degraded by misuse.”
Delray Affair 2020:
Cancelled
The Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce announced
today that the 58th Annual Delray Affair scheduled for April
3, 4 and 5 has been cancelled.
Governor DeSantis held a press conference recommending
that all municipalities consider limiting or postponing major
events, “I am recommending local municipalities and private
entities to strongly consider limiting or postponing mass gatherings
in the state of Florida,” the governor said. “This is an
opportunity, our health officials believe, where some of these
large-scale events can be postponed and do it later.”
