Industrial tourism is understood to be the cultural tourism segment that, through its heritage or historical aspect (visiting old factories, mines and other facilities that are no longer working but have high tourism-cultural value), or living industry (visiting active companies), show us what the Basque Country is all about, its history and economic activity, recalling certain professions, helping us understand its urban development and interpret its landscape. ocated in the docks of the
former Euskalduna shipyard,
the Bilbao Maritime Museum
reveals Bilbao and Bizkaia’s
maritime culture and heritage.
On the outside, in addition to the
docks that are over 150 years
old, home to the boats in the
Museum’s Collection, we can
find the unique “Carola” crane
and the Bomb House.
The indoor exhibition reveals
Bilbao and Bizkaia’s maritime
history, starting with
trade and then the Port’s
industrial development,
naval construction, the Ria’s
environmental recovery and the
Port Center.
The visit finishes off with the
ERAIN project that is restoring
Bizkaia’s 20th century riverbank
carpentry, featuring an
exhibition, an active workshop
and the actual docks.

le Musée Maritime de Bilbao vise
à diffuser le patrimoine culturel et
maritime de Bilbao et du Bizkaia.
À l’extérieur, outre les quais, qui
ont plus de 150 années d’histoire
et abritent les embarcations de la
collection du musée, se dressent
la grue « Carola » et la « Maison des
Pompes ».
À l’intérieur, une exposition raconte
l’histoire maritime de Bilbao
et du Bizkaia : le commerce, le
développement industriel du port, la
construction navale, la récupération
environnementale de l’estuaire.
Le musée dispose aussi d’un Port
Center (Centre d’Interprétation du
Port de Bilbao).
La visite se termine par la
présentation du projet ERAIN, qui
vise à récupérer la menuiserie du
XXe siècle au Bizkaia, avec une
exposition et un atelier sur les quais.
