The goal of the unique project
called „Trnava through the eyes of
an architect“ is to attract tourists
attention to dilapitated industrial
buildings and other architectural
monuments that would otherwise
go unnoticed.
Aj kontroverzné socialistické sídliská patria
k histórii Trnavy. Nechajte sa uniesť novými
trasami, z ktorých zážitok umocní práve výlet
na bicykli. Každá z prehliadok má svoj vlastný
názov, ktorý zhrňuje, akým smerom sa spoločne
s architektom vydáte. Vďaka nemu sa
dozviete niečo nielen o samotných výrobných
objektoch a ich architektúre, ale aj o obydliach,
ktoré boli postavené v súvislosti s nimi.
Prejdete sa trasami úzkokoľajok, ktoré napájali
tieto výrobne z okrajových častí mesta. Uvidíte
tiež najvýznamnejšie industriálne stavby, ktoré
naštartovali rast mesta, ako aj zaujímavé urbanistické
riešenia, sídliská či rozporuplno vnímané
zásahy socialistických architektov v centre
mesta. Kým pre siluetu historického centra Trnavy
sú typické kostolné veže, 20. storočie začalo
prinášať nové dominanty, ktoré sú sústredené
severozápadne od centra.
Obrovské silá a mlyny sú významné nielen ako
technické pamiatky, ale aj ako skvosty modernej
architektúry. V jednom type budov sa spája
mlynárstvo ako tradičný spôsob obživy s odvážnymi
a pokrokovými myšlienkami moderny.
One part of the town’s history is the existence

will learn more not only about the production
objects and their architecture, but also
about the dwellings that have been built as an
addition. You will go around the narrow-gauge

outskirts of the town. Among other things, you
will see the most important industrial buildings
that have started the growth of the town,
innovative city planning solutions, housing units
or the interventions of socialist architects in the
city center.
In the skyline of the historical center of Trnava,
there are many church towers. Other interesting
places are in the northwest from the center.
Huge bunkers and mills are significant not only
as technical monuments but also as gems of
modern architecture. One type of buildings
combines milling as a traditional way of living
with progressive ideas of modernity.
