ASSOUFID GOLF COURSE
Voted the “ Best New Course in Africa” barely half a year after it
opened, Assoufid does not disappoint. Every hole is designed to test and
entertain in equal measure. Stretched across an open desert, the course
presents a remarkable portrait with hundreds of palm and olive trees
and unhindered views of the Atlas Mountains as a stunning backdrop.
Situated close to the vibrant Red City of Marrakech, this desert-style
6,440 metre, par-72 golf course is the debut design of Niall Cameron,
former European Tour player. The eco-friendly course design is
integrated into the existing landscape, allowing the site’s indigenous
flora and fauna to thrive whilst minimising water consumption.
The par four 5th is one of the toughest holes – it is played from an
elevated tee, and the fairway is flanked by desert as it rises towards the
Atlas Mountains. The tee on the par three 17th is located on the highest
point, and offers panoramic views of all the holes in the back nine.
The Golf Club features a driving range and a practice putting and
chipping green as well as golfer-dedicated services including bag drop,
caddies and equipment hire. A real treat for golfers, Assoufid Golf Club
combines visual pleasure with joys of the game while revealing the
perfect curves of an 18-hole course that will not disappoint.
